Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. The Former Mission Church is a converted tin tabernacle whose traditional interior bears witness to its past as a place of worship. Today, the former church feels calm and comfortable and its open-plan living area is filled with vintage furniture. The property is situated in the fishing village of Elgol which has stunning sea and mountain views and is a base for boat trips to Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillins and the Small Isles. The space The property consists of an entrance porch, an open-plan living area and an adjoining toilet and shower room. The kitchen is incorporated into the open-plan space which previously served as the Mission Hall for the local Free Presbyterian Church. It contains an electric cooker, a Wonder Oven, a fridge, a freezer and a vintage kitchen cupboard for storing food. There’s also a washing machine and a tumble dryer. The main room measures 48m2 and still has the original tongue and groove pine boarding on its walls. It is furnished with a double bed, a sofa bed, a sofa, a desk, a table and a chest of drawers. This simple building is full of charm and character and is located within close walking distance of both the village bistro and the local fine dining restaurant. The village harbour is a couple of minutes drive or ten minutes walk away. There is excellent wifi reception and, although there is no TV, you can bring your laptop to stream programmes or watch a comprehensive collection of classic films on the DVD player. Board games and jigsaws are also provided. The property has a small front garden filled with herbs and roses and you can use the rosemary, mint, fennel and thyme to make tea or flavour your food. There are several steps leading up to the property and parking is located about fifty yards away. The parking space is marked with a sign. Elgol is situated fifteen miles away from the nearest supermarket in the village of Broadford so please make sure to stock up with groceries at the Co-op in Broadford or do your food shopping on the mainland before you arrive.
