Living on clouds in the great expanse of southern Morvan
L'Ancienne Forge (FeWo-direkt. De 2046245) now has a sister: The little smithy - La Petite Forge! In the extension of the old smithy, an independent apartment for two people was created in spring 2018. An old wrought-iron grille surrounds the approx. 18 sqm south-west terrace and leads into a light-flooded living room. Linen fabrics filter the light and give a view of a great landscape from the four-meter-long canapé. Warm light sources and reading lamps invite you to idle hours. The small open kitchen also offers the frequent cook a sufficient basis for tasty self-catering. supply. Glasses and dishes are stowed on a wall shelf and provide the backdrop for the round cozy Dining table with the old curved garden armchairs from a good house ... A staircase leads to the upper part of the apartment, to the storage room and to a shower room with toilet and a separate vanity. An armchair with an adjustable backrest provides another reading / resting corner on the gallery. A sun shade also protects the large terrace from raindrops. From up here you can enjoy wonderful sunsets and witness the leisurely village and country life ... In the course of the year, the small garden in front will also get its shape. A gravel terrace from the nearby Saône is planned. Here you have the opportunity to have breakfast in the morning sun, surrounded by hydrangeas and oleanders .... Our village Saint Didier sur Arroux, located on the southern foothills of the Morvan, is a good starting point for exploring the surrounding area. From your home you are in nature in just a few steps. If you arrive with bicycles, they can be parked in a garage 200 meters away. Endless hiking trails in the heights and vastness of the Morvan will challenge and inspire you. For those interested in culture, a visit to the ancient Roman city of Autun (approx. 20 minutes) is a "must". A market is held there on Wednesdays and Fridays. The path up to the cathedral leads through medieval streets. Time seems to have stopped here. From your terrace you have a view of Mont Beuvray, once the seat of the important ancient Celtic city "Bibracte". The museum and the excavations are worth seeing and exit for beautiful hikes (approx. 25 min.) Nearby, in La Boulaye, is the "Temple des milles Buddhas", one of the largest active Buddhist temples in Europe (approx. 15 minutes). If you stay a few days longer, there is a trip to Beaune (approx. 60 minutes) with its world-famous hospice Hotel Dieu. The route leads along the Route des Grands Crus through famous vineyards .... To Cluny (approx. 90 min.) With the ruins of what was then the largest church in the West, possibly combined with a tour of the Brionnais with its Romanesque village churches. Also to Veselez, UNESCO World Heritage Site (approx. 90 min.) A trip to the northern Morvan is worthwhile, possibly combined with a detour to Chablis ... If you just want to laze around, you will find a swimming lake with shady spots in the neighboring town of Thil sur Arroux. There is also a restaurant on the church square.
