Other things to note In the area of NARA Guest Houses you can see: Kosten Waterfall Just 6 kilometers from the NARA villas is the Kosten Waterfall – one of the most beautiful water attractions in the area. With a height of about 12 meters, it impresses not so much with its scale as with its picturesque location in a narrow rock gorge. As early as the beginning of the 19th century, Ivan Vazov himself visited the waterfall and described it in his works. Today, the place is easily accessible and offers great conditions for a short walk, picnic or just contemplation of the water. In spring, the waterfall is particularly lush from the snowmelt, and in winter it turns into an ice fairy tale. Kostenets Eco Trail The Kostenets eco trail, one of the most popular in the area, starts directly from the waterfall. Its length is about 3 kilometers, but the route is easy and suitable even for families with children. Along it are wooden bridges, benches for recreation and panoramic platforms. The trail follows the course of the Kostenets River and passes through a centuries-old forest in which beech, pine and spruce trees alternate. The sound of water, fresh air and slight denivelation make this walk a real pleasure for all senses. Belmeken For lovers of more serious mountain tourism, Belmeken Peak (2626 m) and the high mountain lake of the same name are a must. Although they are about 30-40 minutes by car from Pchelin, they offer a route that curves up to the mountain heights, picturesque and impressive. The area around Belmeken is known for its alpine landscape, clean air, and wildlife. You can often see herds of deer, wild goats, or just hear the songs of rare birds. The area is popular with runners, cyclists and hikers, thanks to the sports base, which is located nearby. Rila Monastery Although it is located a little further away, about 60 km away, the Rila Monastery deserves to be included in the program of every visitor to NARA. In addition to being an architectural and historical jewel, it is surrounded by stunning nature. The majestic peaks of Rila, the rivers and the dense forests create a feeling of mysticism and spiritual elevation. The visit to the monastery can be combined with a walk along the nearby eco-trails, such as the one to the tomb of St. Ivan Rilski. The area around the monastery is also suitable for a full-day picnic in nature. Pchelin Mineral Springs The village of Pchelin, next to which NARA is located, is known for its mineral waters. The temperature at the source reaches 72°C, making them some of the hottest in Bulgaria. The water is suitable for the treatment of rheumatism, skin diseases and problems of the nervous system. Either way, NARA guests can freely and peacefully enjoy the mineral water. But a walk to the spring can bring a wonderful variety to the holiday. Geo Milev Eco Trail This lesser-known but extremely pleasant path is named after the great Bulgarian poet Geo Milev and combines natural views with cultural and historical elements. Its starting point is near Kostenets, and the route passes through beautiful forest areas, rock formations and panoramic sites. The information boards that present the life and work of Geo Milev are interesting to look at, and present a unique combination of poetry and nature.
