It leads over about 200 kilometers from Gunzenhausen to Kelheim, always along the Altmühl, through an archaic landscape. The trail connects Franconia, Upper Bavaria, the Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria and was awarded the "hiking trail of the year" in 2008.
