Welcome to this charming Grade II listed Victorian cottage located in the centre of Clare, the historic smallest town in Suffolk. Formerly a shoe shop in the 1930s it is now a cosy home with original beams visible on the ground floor. The wealth of shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants are no more than a short amble from the front door. The space Explore the remains of the Norman castle with motte and baileys and the Victorian railway buildings. Adjoining the park is the historic Clare Priory dating back to 1248AD. Richard and Gilbert de Clare formerly resided in the town and were both signatories of the Magna Carta. Nature lovers will enjoy the nearby Clare Country Park, where the River Stour flows through the landscape. Several circular walks around the town and countryside start here. On the outside of the cottage are two Doric columns where the shop door formerly was. An information board provides the history of Clare Market dating back to the Domesday Book. Leading from the hall, there is a bright living room with a comfortable sofa and table to eat at or work on. The adjoining kitchen is well equipped if you wish to cook and tea, coffee and sugar are provided. The staircase leads to a large, airy bedroom with a double bed.
