Room 2 in rambling old Golden Valley farmhouse
Room 2 in rambling old Golden Valley farmhouse
Description
One of two sunny, south facing bedrooms furnished with small double beds. The shower room is for exclusive use of guests. Ideal for the single traveller but can be used by two guests. It is slap bang on the Herefordshire Trail and the Three Rivers Ride and is just a short step from the Golden Valley Pilgrimage route. We are close to the famous book town of Hay on Wye and even have our very own border castle a mere five minutes' walk away. The space We live in a large, rambling farmhouse overlooking the Golden Valley with views to the Radnor Fforest sixteen miles away. The house dates from the 17th century with a large extension added at the end of the 19th century. Guest access You are free to walk around our garden of nearly an acre and we are happy to serve breakfast on the sunny, south facing terrace in the summer. During your stay This is our home so we'll be around to help and advise. Just ask! Other things to note We have brought up a family of three boys under the roof of this house and it looks, and is, well loved. In the summer swifts use the eaves to raise broods, there are maternity roosts for pipistrelle bats in the gable ends, and starlings nest in the roof space. In the past we've had up to 25 house martins' nests (sadly no more) and a few swallows still return each year to nest in the barn. Needless to say, we have spiders and other house dwelling insects come and go. These are controlled but tolerated (although I do like to keep a clean house). Pet-wise we have two horses, two cats, two dogs, a small flock of hens and ducks and, at the end of the garden, two hives of bees. If the idea of sharing a space with any of these creatures is not for you, it might be best to look elsewhere!
