Bwindi has a population of around 340 mountain gorillas (Gorilla gorilla beringei); roughly half of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. The ancient forest is home to the biggest ever troop of gorillas that are familiarised with humans. It is a humbling once-in-a-lifetime experience to be able to observe these shy and peaceful animals in their natural habitat. The well-appointed cottages all have solar-powered lighting, en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and flush toilets and individual verandahs offering excellent views of the unspoiled tropical rainforest. Two of the cottages have two rooms (both en-suite and featuring a cosy fireplace) with an inter-joining door making them the ideal choice for families or larger groups of people traveling together. The main lodge includes a restaurant, bar, lounge,spa and campfire area overlooking the forest.
