The Elms is a spacious, stylish family home with lots of flexible accommodation for big family get togethers and occasions. Located in Gate Helmsley, the old Georgian residence sits between lovely walks in the wolds and the excellent bars and restaurants on offer in historic York city centre. There's a mini bar, dedicated workspace, glass roofed orangery, lots of outdoor dining options and a separate annexe with its own double bedroom, kitchenette and lounge that is available on request. The space The main house has 5 double bedrooms comfortably sleeping 10 with the option to extend to 12 by renting our adjacent annexe ‘The Barn’ , a gorgeous secluded getaway in its own right with a further double bedroom, living room with a log burner and sofa bed, bathroom and kitchenette, perfect for any guests that would benefit from some downtime and peace and quiet away from the main house! Let us know on booking if you’d like to rent this space too. All the double rooms can comfortably fit cots and pull out beds where required, just let us know and we’ll set up for you. The Elms retains many original features such as intricate cornices, sash windows and feature fireplaces. In addtion to the dining kitchen and laundry room there are four spacious reception rooms: a large glass orangery (with sash window to kitchen for passing food and drinks through!) which leads through to multiple outdoor eating and entertaining spaces. The snug with stove and plenty of logs, shuttered sash windows and a widescreen tv for movie nights. The second reception room with feature fire place and book library leads through to another dining/ living space with a fully tiled bar and extra large dining table to seat approx 14 guests . For less formal dining the breakfast bar in the kitchen has comfy stools and plenty of seating in the adjacent orangery. Above the kitchen is a separate staircase leading to a dual aspect double bedroom with desk and private ensuite bathroom. There is also a downstairs WC and a large laundry room with second fridge, washing machine and tumble dryer. A grand staircase takes you to the private master suite, with a large dressing room and en suite bathroom featuring walk-in shower and large tub. There are a further three large double rooms, a single bedroom with smart tv and stylish family bathroom with walk-in shower. Outside there is an enclosed and secure raised garden with outdoor kitchen and two covered terraces with outdoor heating. At the end of the lawn is a raised sun deck overlooking the lawns at the front of the house. The drive way has plenty of space for 4 cars (6 with some careful manouvering). Guest access This is our family home so there are a few small areas (mostly locked) where we store all our clutter for you to enjoy your stay here!- these include a small home office and store room (both adjacent to the orangery) and one of the 2 large dressing rooms in the master bedroom.
