Description
Casa Coruja is one of two adjoining, self-contained houses at Vale da Cegonha. There is also a large swimming pool and terraces available to guests from both houses. The town of Ourique is 6 km away and has supermarkets, shops, banks, restaurants and cafes etc to cater for all your needs. The house is furnished to the highest standards. The entire house plus all outside terraces are all wheelchair accessible. All are welcome regardless of background or mobility. Maximum 6 adults +2 children The space The views from the house and all the terraces are truly spectacular. The house has its own front door and private barbeque terrace. It also has an exceptionally large open plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The lounge area has comfortable seating for 6 guests and there is a dining table and 6 chairs. 2 further folding dining chairs and a highchair is also available. The kitchen is fully fitted and has solid wood units with granite worktops. It includes a hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster and electric hand blender. A further dining table and chairs is outside on the barbeque terrace. Both bedrooms have zip and link beds which can be made up as either a large double or 2 singles, whichever you would prefer. A small childs bed or cot can be added to either bedroom. Both bedrooms also have spacious 'wetroom' style shower rooms ensuite, which include an adjustable height shower, washbasin and WC and have level floors throughout. The sofa bed in the lounge area makes up into a full sized double bed that will sleep 2 adults. Please note that guests using this bed will need access to one of the ensuite shower rooms. What makes Casa Coruja so special is that when we designed it we wanted to ensure that it was not only spacious and elegant, but that it was also completely wheelchair friendly. To this end, subtle features were included - wider doors, level thresholds, no steps to negotiate. There is ample space to turn around in all rooms (1.5m turning circles in each room) including the shower rooms. These also have open spaces under the washbasins, 1m spaces beside the WC's and grabrails beside the WC's and in the shower areas. The kitchen is also wheelchair friendly as it includes an extra lowered work surface and hob, both with spaces beneath plus a further space beneath the sink. Most crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are kept in large pull out drawers with space to the side. The oven is set at 50cm from the floor. We can either provide or hire a number of mobility aids if required. Please ask us for details. Evenings at Vale da Cegonha are a real treat. As the sun sets behind the hills there is no better place for an alfresco supper washed down with a glass of delicious local wine. Afterwards, you will be treated to a dazzling display of starlight, thanks to our clean clear air. Truly breathtaking! Vale da Cegonha is the perfect rural retreat where you can just relax and unwind, yet close enough to the nearby town of Ourique (4 miles) which has a good selection of supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants etc to cater for all your needs. Ourique also has excellent road links which makes Vale da Cegonha an ideal place from which to explore much of southern Portugal. We want everyone to discover this lovely part of Portugal, regardless of mobility. So our invitation to everyone is to come, relax, explore and enjoy! Guest access The entire house Other things to note COVID-19 To ensure the safety of our guests extra measures have been put in place. Cleaning - Apart from regular cleaning, all areas of the house will be sanitised before new guests arrive. This includes all high contact areas such as door handles, light switches, TV remotes, cupboard and drawer handles, as well as microwave and fridge door handles and all chair backs. Outside - we have introduced strict social distancing between guests from the 2 houses, who all have access to the pool and pool terraces. Both the sun terrace and the shaded terrace have been split into 2 separate areas to ensure that a safe 2 metre space is maintained at all times. There are 2 extra photos showing the divided terraces. The pool water is continuously filtered and treated with chlorine. This keeps the water clear, but also acts as a disinfectant keeping the water safe for swimming. It is most important to us to ensure that all our guests feel safe and protected here at Vale da Cegonha. If further clarification is required we urge everyone to please ask. We are happy to answer any questions or concerns that anyone may have. Vale da Cegonha is registered with Portugal Tourism AL3346 We also carry full public liability insurance.
