Description

Adorable semi-detached fishermen's house facing the sea, weathered by the years and carefully renovated. Subtle blend of authentic charm and contemporary decor. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, suspended terrace with sea view, bathtub with sea view. Recommended by travel guides. 10 km from Omaha Beach, an inspired retreat to live to the rhythm of the tides. The space 🌊 La Maison sur le Quai – Sea view & marine charm in Port-en-Bessin Welcome to La Maison sur le Quai, an iconic former fishermen's house, the first born of the Les Filles du Bord de Mer rental adventure. Since 2009, it has won the hearts of many travelers from all over the world, some of whom return several times a year, and has been recommended by the decor press (print and TV) and in renowned travel guides. Settle in on the private elevated terrace, let time pass by watching the sea, the tides, the fishing boats, the seagulls... Here, you live to the rhythm of the gentle lapping of the waves or the force of the storms, the sea wind, the spray and the superb Norman sunsets. In this small port, which is lively all year round, fishermen perpetuate an artisanal tradition, coexisting with the inhabitants while tourists enjoy the beaches of the coast, the Normandy countryside and immerse themselves in the history of the landing and medieval history. 🏡 A charming townhouse Behind a modest facade, marked by spray and storms (the last storm blew away a shutter! Next renovation planned for 2026-2027), the fishermen's houses are squeezed together. Inside, there is a seaside spirit, cozy, simple, authentic and comfortable. Each object tells a story, every detail has been carefully thought out and there are a few nods to pretty design pieces such as Tolix chairs or the Artemide lamp. - I fell in love with this little house in 2006 - And with the help of an architect and local craftsmen, we completely renovated it in 2008-2009 - Its decoration is deliberately sober and timeless - The original materials have been preserved as much as possible: terracotta tiles, paneling, old frames... while it has also been infused with a more contemporary spirit (waxed concrete,...) ✨ What's going well - Exceptional location facing the sea - Unobstructed view (small view on the ground floor, beautiful sea view on the 1st floor, sea view from the bed and bathtub on the second floor) - Private raised terrace - Soft, cozy and unpretentious atmosphere - A few steps away: shops, restaurants, pancake truck, summer carousel, golf... - A magical awakening with the sea on the horizon - My friend Astrid and I created the "Les Filles du Bord de Mer" Cottages. We are owners and guarantors of the quality of our goods. We pay special attention to our Hosts. We love to share with you the art of living in Normandy. 🛏️ The house in detail: (70 m² + terrace + laundry room) Entrance on the dock side. - Elevated terrace in front of the house, with panoramic sea view, accessible by a narrow and steep external staircase (7 steps) - Ground floor: living room with small sea view, equipped kitchen, dining area, living room, TV and Bluetooth speaker - 1st floor: reading landing with beautiful sea view, bedroom with 2 large windows (2 beds 90 side by side) with shower room/WC (sheets and towels provided) 2nd floor (attic): bright master bedroom (bed 160) with open bathroom (bathtub with sea view) + toilet - Laundry room located under the terrace 📍 Great location Located in the heart of the landing beaches in the small fishing port of Port-en-Bessin-Huppain, famous for its scallops and fresh fish. You can buy your fish directly under the hall, from fishermen and the fishmonger. What's nearby: - 10 min from Arromanches, Omaha Beach and Bayeux 1.5 hours from Mont-Saint-Michel, Cotentin and Deauville-Honfleur 🏖️ Swimming Large sandy beaches are 10 km away (Omaha Beach, Arromanches, Asnelles). The children of the village also bathe in the outer harbor in front of the house (it is possible even if we do not recommend it). ✅ Amenities WiFi TV (parabola) 2 Marshall Bluetooth speakers Dishwasher Washer & dryer Nespresso coffee machine + filter coffee machine, and all the necessary dishes as at home Welcome products (tea, coffee, salt, soap, shampoo, cleaning products...) to help you out on arrival Bed and bath linens provided – beds made on arrival. For stays of 15 days, fresh extra linens can be provided free of charge. Welcome gift upon arrival 🚗 Parking Free on the dock in front of the house (non-reservable spaces) Several free public parking lots nearby щ️ Practical info Terrace accessible by steep staircase (7 steps) The back overlooks a private courtyard (not accessible) Beach Towels Not Provided Crib and high chair on request ❌ Rule-sets Non-Smoking Pets not allowed Strict Cancellation policy 🎆 Every Friday from July 18 to August 29, 2025, fireworks in the village. Things 🛠️ to know The facade of the house has suffered the effects of the marine climate. A new complete renovation is planned for 2026/2027 with resumption of the wooden frames (including 1 shutter torn off during the last storm). And then the house has been constantly receiving many travelers for over 15 years. We take the greatest care of its materials and equipment, but the years pass and we will one day soon do new major interior work. Our regulars love it inside and ignore the outside, we hope you will also fall under its spell despite the patina of the years! Guest access Facing the sea and the front port, quiet, in a small authentic and popular fishing port, working all year round. All shops on site, fish hall, etc. Small boat slip on the dock and car parking. We recommend that our guests have a vehicle during their stay to be able to go to the large sandy beaches, discover the landing sites and the pretty town of Bayeux. However, on site, all shops are within walking distance with access to hiking trails. You can therefore stay facing the sea, without using your car on a daily basis. Transportation: - Car: 3 hours from Paris via the A13 - Train: 2h15 from Paris Saint Lazare to Bayeux by Train + 10 min taxi or rental car (or stop earlier in Caen) - Air: Caen Carpiquet Airport (30 min), direct flights from Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Marseille, Toulouse, Corsica Deauville Airport (1.5 hours) - Ferry from England and Ireland to Ouistreham (40 min) or Cherbourg (1h10) - Free public parking on site throughout the village. If you have bikes, you can store them on site or in a room 5 minutes from the house (to be seen according to availability). Other things to note This small house has been rented since 2009 and recommended by the Deco press, tourism and travel guides. Upon arrival, the beds are made, towels provided, some basic necessities provided. Are you staying for more than a week? Fresh linens can be provided. When you leave, as is common practice, dishes must be washed and stored, the dishwasher emptied, the refrigerator emptied, the garbage sorted and thrown away in the place indicated. Do not rent the house, if it does not match your rental concept. The rest of the cleaning is done by us. Registration Details 14515000126PO
