Fisherman's house facing the SEA, charm and terrace

Small, traditional, terraced former fishing house, with exceptional sea views. Renovated with charm and simplicity, modest on the outside, cozy on the inside. 2 double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom or shower/toilet, laundry room, and private terrace accessible via a steep staircase. Located on the waterfront and by the village harbor, it's an ideal base for visiting the D-Day landing beaches, Omaha Beach, and Bayeux, which are 10 km (6 miles) away. Village under construction in 2026–27, and house renovation scheduled for 2027. The space 🌊 Welcome! You will stay in a charming, old, small fisherman’s house, ideal for guests who appreciate small houses and authentic maritime atmospheres, combining old-world charm, simplicity, and thoughtful details with contemporary design touches. Modest on the outside because it is heavily exposed to the elements (sea spray, seagulls, and storms); cozy on the inside. In a nutshell, this house has a soul: a fabulous sea view from the upper floors, the patina of age, and charm. For your comfort and for our logistics, this season, we are limiting the maximum occupancy to 3 people (including children and babies), even though the house is equipped for 4. Of course, you will have the entire house at your disposal, including the living room, 2 double bedrooms (each with a bathroom or shower and toilet), the outdoor area, and the laundry room. The house is not recommended for young children or people with reduced mobility because of the steep stairs to the terrace and the lack of a child barrier. Everything is within walking distance: fishmonger, bakeries, shops, and restaurants just 3 minutes away, hiking trails and the Vélomaritime cycle path starting from the village, and a golf course. Or on the contrary, you will choose to make it your home base to leave the day to crisscross the region and return only in the evening to enjoy the sunsets from the terrace. As indicated in the presentation, the village (and more specifically the waterfront) will be the subject of road works in 2026-27 due to climatic hazards. We provide you with all the information below so that you can book with full knowledge of this particular context. Our dock should be minimally affected in 2026. 🏠 The house On the dock side, facing the sea and the outer harbor: push the gray gate, climb a few steps… you are at home. • Ground Floor Small living room with fully equipped open kitchen (glass-ceramic hobs, large width oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, filter coffee machine and Nespresso, complete dishes, etc.), Dining area with chairs. Toilet. Small living area with sofa and armchairs. Fiber-optic TV. Marshall speaker. Turntable. • 1st Floor Reading landing with beautiful sea view, books. Bedroom overlooking the courtyard with 2 single beds (90 × 200) side by side, small wardrobe, Marshall speaker, and shower room with sink, shower, and toilet. • 2nd floor (attic) Very bright bedroom with five windows, including 2 skylights, sea view, 160×200 bed, closet with hanging space, bathroom opening onto the bedroom, polished concrete with sea-view bathtub, sink, and separate toilet. 🌅 The exterior In front of the house, on the dock side, the raised terrace with garden furniture offers spectacular views of the sea, tides, fishing boats, seagulls and changing skies — a truly magical place. This terrace is accessed via an original (steep) staircase with 7 steps, which is not suitable for young children left unattended (no gate) or for people with limited mobility. Below, there is a laundry room (washing machine, dryer, sink) that can also be used to store bicycles, golf clubs, etc. In this room, three Tolix bar stools are set up in front of the bay window overlooking the sea, so you can watch the tides, draw, read, or play. The exterior façade, wooden window frames, and exterior paint, which have been damaged by sea spray, seagulls, and storms, will be redone in 2027 or 2028. ⚓ Port & Village Life A 2-minute walk across the quay will take you to the fish market to buy fresh fish and shellfish for direct sale, as well as restaurants, breweries and food shops: bakeries, delicatessens, shops, supermarket, bank, post office... Market on Sunday morning in the village. 📍 Perfect location to discover the D-Day beaches while enjoying the life of a small fishing port and radiating in Normandy. It's easy to walk. ❌ Rules of use No Smoking permitted Pets not allowed ！️ Things to know before you book - Due to its stairs and typical fishermen's house layout, the house is not suitable for people with severe mobility difficulties (only the terrace staircase is steep; those of the house are comfortable). - The back overlooks a private courtyard for the exclusive use of the neighbor, it is quiet and without nuisance. But no regrets, you will prefer a thousand times to enjoy our terrace on the sea side. - Beach towels not provided. It's up to you to bring your own. - The house is non-smoking and no pets are allowed. In 2026–2027, the Department will carry out major works to reinforce the beachfront harbor in order to protect the coastline and infrastructure from climate-related and natural hazards (tides, storms, upwellings, landslides). The work will take place in phases in other areas of the port, the piers, and the village, with the presence of machinery, platforms, and some temporary traffic and parking adjustments depending on the period. The sea view from the house and the typical activity of the fishing port (boats coming and going, fish market, shops, etc.) will remain very much present. For my part, I will do my utmost to inform my guests in advance in a completely transparent manner, as I do here, so that everyone books knowing the context of the port in operation and under construction. And I will redouble my small welcome attentions to my guests. 🌟 The icing on the cake Since 2009, this house has featured in numerous articles in interior design publications (Art & Décoration, etc.) and is mentioned in well-known travel guides for its charm, authenticity, and slow-living spirit. It feels very good… and it is often difficult to leave. Guest access We recommend that our guests have a vehicle during their stay to be able to go to the large sandy beaches nearby, discover the landing sites and the pretty town of Bayeux. However, on site, all shops are within walking distance with access to hiking trails. The walk at the foot of the cliffs is currently closed following landslides, but the fabulous trail entirely created by the Vélomaritime for pedestrians and cyclists is a must. You can get to Omaha Beach on foot or by bike (+10 km). Transportation: - Car: 3 hours from Paris via the A13 - Train: 2h15 from Paris Saint Lazare -> Bayeux by Train + 10 min taxi or car rental (or 2h from Paris Saint Lazare -> Caen + 35 min car rental) - Plane: Caen Carpiquet Airport (30 minutes), direct flights from Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Marseille, Toulouse, Corsica Deauville Airport (1.5 hours) - Ferry from England and Ireland to Ouistreham (40 min) or Cherbourg (1h10) - Free public parking throughout the village (and occasionally on the quay in front of the house) If you have bikes, you can store them on site in the laundry room. Other things to note - Upon checkout, as is customary, the dishes must be clean and tidy, the dishwasher emptied, the fridge emptied, the garbage cans sorted and disposed of in the indicated place, the furniture in its original place.
