Chata Latoś (meaning - this year) is located in the Biała Forest (Natura 2000) overlooking picturesque fields and forests just 70 km from Warsaw. Guest access The forests of the Biała Forest stretch in the forks of the Bug and Narew rivers. In the past, it was also called Biskupia, because from the 11th century these forests belonged to the bishops of Płock. Although they carefully managed the tree stand, over the centuries the area of the forest has decreased significantly. To this day, forests have survived where farming was almost completely unprofitable. The sandy dunes are dominated by pine forests with a varied undergrowth. It is estimated that there are more than 30 species of protected plants in the Biała Forest, and 150 species of birds nest in its area, including cranes and black storks. It is very likely that you will meet a wild boar, a deer or a herd of roe deer on the trail. However, the culture of this region is more interesting than nature. You are on the southern edge of the Kurpie region, whose distinctiveness is expressed in architecture, as well as in art and folk dialect. On the route you will see characteristically decorated houses, and if you go to the church in Porządzie on Sunday, you will probably meet women dressed in traditional costumes.
