Ocean Mist Cabin – Spa, Fireplace & EV Charger
Bay View Retreats- Ocean mist
Description
Bay View Retreats is a family-run 2 bedroom eco-retreat with a heart for Dover and for Tasmania's wild south. We tread lightly here — responsibly sourced wood for the fires, minimal plastics, gentle cleaning products and gardens planted with natives to attract local birds. A share of our profits goes toward supporting children in Tasmania's foster care system, because a retreat like this should give something back to the place that makes it worth visiting. The space Step onto the spotted gum deck and let Port Esperance Bay do the talking. A fenced bubble spa and a timber bench are made for slow mornings — tea in hand, eyes on the water, no particular rush to be anywhere. This stretch of water has been home to fishing boats for generations, and it still is — abalone, crayfish and salmon come in most days, so the seafood on your plate tonight was very possibly swimming that morning. Slide the doors open and you're into an airy living space where timber floors, a wood fire and a heat pump keep things warm, and a leather couch makes it easy to sink in after a day spent exploring — whether that's a five-minute stroll along Kent Beach, a drive out to Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs for a soak in the naturally heated pool. The dining area runs into a kitchen properly equipped for real cooking, not just reheating — rice cooker, baking gear, a smoothie maker, the works — whether you're after a quick breakfast, a proper dinner, or a barbecue, everything at Bay View Retreat has been thought through. The bedrooms are styled comfort and made for sleeping in. The master offers a king bed and ocean views; the second bedroom has two single beds but can be made up as a king upon request — just let us know your preference when booking. Both bedrooms have panel heaters on timers and ample wardrobe space to fully unpack and settle in. A large laundry area sits at the back of the house, flowing out to where you can dust off the sand after a day at the beach, and a modern, spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower also awaits. Dover itself potters along at its own pace just up the road — a pub with a fire and a marina view, a well-loved pizza joint at the old Post Office, a café for fish and chips, an RSL for something casual — and it's your gateway south to the Hartz Mountains and Tasmania's Southwest wilderness if big views and long walks are what you're after. The IGA is a short walk away for anything you didn't pack. Look out far enough and you'll spot three small islands on the horizon — Faith, Hope and Charity — named, so the story goes, to lift the spirits of the convicts once held here. Guest access Guests enjoy private use of the property. Self check-in is available. Two entrances are provided—one via steps to the deck, and one via a rear ramp. Please note, this property is unsuitable for wheelchair access. Registration Details VA-2/2023
