Description

【About the Stay】 Welcome to our peaceful retreat in Naruko Onsen, Miyagi Prefecture, a traditional hot spring town surrounded by mountains nad nature. Easily accessible from Tokyo, Sendai, and major airports. Enjoy Japan's four seasons — cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, vibrant autumn foliage, and Winter in Naruko Onsen brings beautiful snow scenery. The main road and access to the entrance is maintained. The house is fully heated, perfect for a quiet, cozy winter retreat. The space 【About the Stay】 The award-winning Michi-no-Eki Ara-Datte (No.1 roadside station in Japan), and Naruko Farm, where you can enjoy seasonal blueberry picking. This fully renovated traditional Japanese house combines the warmth of natural wood with modern comforts, offering an authentic yet relaxing experience. Accommodating up to 9 guests, it’s perfect for families, groups, and workations. The home includes a kitchen, washer/dryer, and a dedicated workspace for a comfortable long-term stay. 【Property Highlights】 Natural materials such as diatomaceous earth walls and solid wood floors create a calm, breathable environment that stays comfortable all year round. Tatami rooms, shoji screens, and exposed beams reflect the beauty of traditional Japanese design, while modern furniture and soft lighting make the space warm and inviting. Gather with friends and family in the spacious living-dining area, or enjoy a cozy hot pot dinner using the tabletop IH stove and clay pot provided. 【Amenities】 • Fully equipped kitchen (IH stove, cookware, dishes, refrigerator) • Washing machine and dryer (ideal for long stays) • 55-inch smart TV with streaming services • Free Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace for remote work • Baby bed, high chair, and kids’ toys/art supplies • Air conditioning and heating throughout the house 【Experience Naruko Onsen】 While the house does not have its own hot spring bath, there are several public and private hot springs within walking distance. Each offers a unique water quality and atmosphere — the true charm of Naruko Onsen. You can relax at Babanoyu Hot Spring (6-minute walk) and experience local onsen culture. Enjoy the best of both worlds: a naturally designed home for the mind, and the healing waters of Naruko’s famous baths for the body. Other things to note 【By Car】 • From Sendai Station: via Tohoku Expressway, exit at Furukawa IC, then 1.5 hours on local roads. • From Furukawa Station: about 45 minutes via local roads. • From Shinjo, Yamagata: about 1 hour via Route 47. 【Parking】 A covered private parking space is available on-site, with easy access from the main (former national) road. The street is quiet with little traffic, and an additional parking area is available by the nearby riverside. 【About the Bedrooms】 The “Kaede” bedroom faces the old national road, so you may notice some traffic noise. We are planning to improve the soundproofing in the near future. On the other hand, the two bedrooms located further away from the road are in a quieter area and are less affected by traffic noise. 【Winter Season: January 10 – End of February】 Our accommodation is located in a heavy snowfall area. Snowplows clear the main road, and our staff removes snowbanks so guests can park and walk safely. The parking area and the path to the entrance are cleared regularly, but space may become narrower depending on snowfall. Please be careful, as the ground may be icy during early mornings and nights. In case of heavy snow, please allow extra travel time when arriving. 【Nearby Facilities】 • Supermarket with drugstore – 6 min walk • Convenience store – 13 min walk • Soba restaurant Jinroku – 1 min walk • Yakiniku restaurant Hatcho – 6 min walk • Day-use hot spring Babanoyu – 6 min walk (Please check hours in advance as they vary by day.) • Aeon Tohoku Online Supermarket – same-day delivery available (Japanese site only). We recommend using a translation tool if needed. 【Nearby Attractions】 • Lake Katakamuna – boating and barbecue (seasonal) • Naruko Farm – blueberry picking (seasonal) • Michi-no-Eki Ara-Datte – ranked No.1 roadside station in Japan • Naruko Gorge – stunning in both fresh greenery and autumn colors • Onikoube Ski Resort & Geyser Park ・Kawatabi Onsen Yuzawagawa Embankment (4-minute drive from Kaede) Somei Yoshino Cherry Blossoms Best viewing period: Mid to late April 【Message】 Immerse yourself in the tranquility and natural beauty of Naruko Onsen.
