Charming and historic gypsy wagon + extra studio

Feel comfortably and relaxed in this unique 100-year-old gypsy wagon + the extra wooden cabin .There's room for 4 people, as the wagon and the red sleeping studio are more spacious than you might expect. This is the ultimate spot for those who love unique accommodations, vintage design, and an authentic atmosphere. It's also perfect for nature lovers, who can indulge in nature in the surroundings of Friesland's largest lake. The space You have access to both accommodations and they are situated in a spacious (400m²) private garden. Both are well heated and insulated. THE GYPSY WAGON: This huge gypsy wagon was renovated in 2025, with an eye for authentic details and comfort. It is a unique wagon, used in the early 20th century by traveling circuses. The wagon is particularly special because of its length (11m) and the long dome on the roof with windows. All window frames are double-glazed, and the walls are insulated. This, along with the gas heater, makes this accommodation suitable for year-round stays. We (Cornelis and Nienke) have renovated this rare wooden wagon with our own hands, using second-hand building materials and a great love for original details. Kitchen: This is the original kitchen, with a granite countertop and old tiles. You can cook on the large gas stove and use the oven/microwave. All essential cooking utensils are provided, and we also provide you herbs, oil, coffee, tea, and other cooking essentials. There's a Nespresso machine, kettle, and filter coffee maker. Bathroom: The bathroom has a shower, toilet, and sink. Plenty of towels are provided for all guests. Bedroom #1 (in the wagon): The double bed is 140x200cm. There's a lot of storage space in the wardrobes. Living/dining room: Dining table with 4 chairs, an armchair, and a relaxing chaise lounge. The wardrobe contains games, candles and books for relaxing and cozy evenings. THE RED CABIN: It has a good heater and is very well insulated. It's comfortably warm here, even in winter. Bedroom #2 and sitting area: If you're staying with two couples, a group of friends, or children, this cozy space offers an extra place to sleep and retreat. The high, wooden living area features a couch (with a view of the large garden) and two single beds (80x200). These can also be pushed together. Washing machine and toilet: There's an additional toilet in the hallway, and you can use the washing machine (a drying rack is also provided). There's also an extra sink. Outdoor kitchen and terraces: The private garden is 400m² and surrounded by trees. At the back of the garden, you have a view of a small waterway with ducks. On the terrace by the outdoor kitchen, you can enjoy a delicious barbecue under the tall trees at the picnic table. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee on the bench on the balcony by the caravan. And on the bistro set by the entrance, you can relax with a glass of wine in the last rays of the day's sunshine. In the summer, there are also vintage lounge chairs in the garden. FRISIAN LAKE AREA: This delightful garden is nestled among tall trees and meadows, on a small, green, non-commercial recreation park, which was formerly a tree plantation. Lake Tjeukemeer is a 2km walk away. Rohel is located in the municipality of De Friese Meren (= Frisian lakes: popular for water sports). Frisian villages such as Joure, Heerenveen, and Lemmer are within cycling distance. - No smoking and no drugs inside - No parties - No pets - Space for 2 cars on the property Guest access All spaces and the large garden may be used. Other things to note Before arrival, we send guests a comprehensive (personally compiled) booklet with top tips for the best terraces, restaurants, museums, boat rentals, and unique outings such as fierljeppen (a local sport), stand-up paddleboarding, classic car driving, and fun playgrounds for our little guests. This booklet is also printed out and available in the cottage.
