Green Pastures Country Cottage on the South Downs

Enjoy an idyllic location overlooking a tranquil green and the sea, surrounded by glorious walks over the South Downs and Friston Forest and majestic Seven Sisters clifftops, this delightful cottage in East Dean is the perfect base to explore the National Park and Eastbourne. Walk to the country pub for fine food and local ales, bike along the trails and just relax in the private garden with views of the distant Belle Tout lighthouse and sea beyond. The space There are three spacious bedrooms, each with a double bed, making this a perfect base for families and friends in need of an escape from busy lives in the city. There is a lot of space to spread out and some lovely outside private garden space, with a large picnic bench just outside the kitchen and lawned and more wild areas at the back of the house. There are steps and a hill up the garden so your calves will have had a good workout! From the garden you can look across at the Belle Tout lighthouse and the countryside which takes your breath away and you can feel and stresses just fade away. Your country kitchen diner is very well equipped with an electric range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and separate dryer, microwave, kettle, fridge freezer, toaster (plus sandwich toaster) and all the utensils you’ll need for the freedom of full self catering. There is a dining table to seat six people. In the lounge there are two sofas and three easy chairs and a Smart TV to catch up on any box sets you're in the middle of. The bathroom has a bath with shower over and there is a separate toilet. There is free WiFi and linen and towels are provided (please bring your own beach towels). One well behaved small to medium adult dog which has been spayed / neutered may be permitted at an additional fee, but please discuss with us before booking as this in on a selective basis and the owner requests more information. Guest access Eastbourne has something for everyone – whether you’re looking for a traditional seaside holiday or a culture break. The idyllic village of East Dean is the gateway to The South Downs National Park, adjacent to Beachy Head, Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters and only about 5 minutes in a car from Eastbourne. It is a fantastic location for walkers, cyclists and holidaymakers seeking a relaxed location set in beautiful countryside. The nearest beach is at Birling Gap, just one mile away, while Eastbourne town centre is just a couple of miles drive. Steeped in history, with strong Saxon and Norman influences, the flint church and cricket green, with its regular open-air market, offer quintessentially English treats. There is a great pub on the green which people visit from miles around – The Tiger Inn serves up tasty lunches and evening meals and you can enjoy your meal overlooking the green when the sun is shining. Or if you feel like something more exotic, there’s also a Thai restaurant on the green. East Dean has a small selection of independent village shops, including a post office, hairdressers and grocers, as well as a doctor’s surgery. There is off-street parking on the driveway for two cars and bags more space on the quiet road directly outside. Buses run very frequently between Eastbourne and Brighton on the road a short walk away. If you have been given permission to bring your dog to stay, please ensure that they are kept off all beds and furniture and they only use the beds and bowls you have brought with you. Please do not leave your dog in the property when you are not there and ensure that you clean up any accidents immediately both inside and outside.
