The space The Gîte chez Julie et Franck, formerly known as "Appartement au bord du canal de la Somme" has been given a new look. Having "remained in its original state" for more than ten years, it required a serious refresh. That's why we have just completely renovated the floor, the carpets have been replaced by floating parquet, the walls and ceilings have been whitened and the furniture has been refined to bring modernity, freshness, brightness and comfort. The vacation rental is located by the Somme Canal, which you can see from the living room windows. In the heart of the Haute-Somme Valley, between Albert (14 km) and Péronne (15 km), on the Somme Remembrance and Battles circuit, in the heart of the Poppy Country. You can visit the history of the Great War in Péronne and the Shelter Museum in Albert. The accommodation is ideally located 12 km from the Méaulte aeronautical center, 11 km from the Haute Picardie TGV station and 10 km from the A1 and A29 motorways. 4 km away in the town of Bray-sur-Somme, you will find all amenities: Carrefour Contact, bakery, pharmacy, doctor, hairdresser, bank, bar/tobacco/horse betting, florist, mechanic. Access to the gîte is from the terrace by a metal staircase of about fifteen steps that gives access to the bottom of the apartment and its living room: living room, dining room and kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a stove with electric hobs and electric oven, a dishwasher, a refrigerator with a small freezer in its upper part, a microwave, a classic coffee maker and a Senseo coffee maker, a kettle, a toaster, a kitchen set including pans, pancake maker, pots, casserole, salad bowl, strainer, salad spinner and all the necessary dishes. The accommodation is heated with electric heaters and being on a cellar, the tiling of the living room can be cool, which is why we recommend that you provide slippers for your comfort. For more softness and cocooning, you will find plaids, candles and home fragrances that will bring a little warmth in winter. The 4 bedrooms, three of which have double beds and the last of two single beds, as well as the bathroom with the toilet are located on the upper floor. You have a terrace, enclosed by a fence, the rest of the land is private. We accept pets, but you will have to go out on the street side to walk and let your pets relieve themselves. We have two cats, Misti and Chaussette, who come and go on the entire property, and a dog, Romy, an American Staffordshire Terrier. The latter only comes out when she is tied up, not because she is mean but simply because she is still young and excessively lively. We also ask smokers to go outside. Guest access When you turn onto Chemin du Port, the vacation rental will be located in the large brick building with black aluminum joinery on your left. Entry is through the wooden gate next to the small brick staircase. Access to the accommodation will be on your right, you will see the terrace and the staircase to take to get to the rental. The gate is a bit hard, you have to hold the left part up while pushing the right part. You can bring your car in while you unload your belongings, but you will then have to park it in the small parking lot at the end of the street. Other things to note We provide bed linen, tea towels and bath mat. However, towels are not provided and must be provided by you. Housekeeping is not included in the rate, you will need to take care of it before you leave. To do so, you will find everything you need in cleaning products as well as a cyclonic motor vacuum cleaner, a "hairdresser" type broom with rubber bristles and a dust collector. We provide a garbage bag and two rolls of toilet paper to "help you out" when you arrive, if you feel that this will not be enough, you can provide more. We will ask you to respect waste sorting, separate household waste and plastic and cardboard packaging that are to be thrown into the large container with the yellow lid behind the gate. The small container is used to put your household garbage bags and the small round one for glass.
