The space The Farm name Knoffelfontein (in english, Garlic Fountain) was given to the farm in 1910 because of the natural spring found just behind the Eco Karoo Lodge, and home of the Tulbaghia violacea (Wild Garlic flower) growing freely on the farm. The Hottentots and Bushmen, the last Stone Age people, shared the “Place of Great Dryness” The Karoo, an ancient semi-desert area is a natural wonder of endless plains and intriguing rock layers. Rich fossil beds, spanning over 600 million years set the Karoo apart from any other place on earth and make it the curator of many secrets of evolution. Several rock engravings dating from the Anglo-Boere war are scattered throughout the mountain range. The Karoo is home to the largest variety of succulents on earth. Here you can find the richest desert floras in the world, and 40 per cent of these species are not found anywhere else on earth. Guest access Each Suite has 2 bedrooms with an on-suite bathroom. Each suite also has it's own private outdoor mountain view shower, and each room its own patio. Guests will have access to the entire brand new Eco Lodge including a fully equipped kitchen, spectacular open air kitchenette 2 BBQ areas which includes the firepit , Large Lounge with dining room and indoor fireplace & deck pool.
