Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. The space Its a country style house in a typical dominican village. You have the tranquility of views of the mountains and also of the ocean, and can wake up to the sunrise every day from the terrace and also enjoy the sunset after a ten minute walk up to the view point overlooking the west coast and Soufriere; Enjoy the cooler mountain climate, and the drive to the property along ancient, winding mountain roads. You have the constant east breeze, endless hummingbirds when the pink cedar tree is in bloom, access to the garden to roam or to plant or just harvest bananas, plantains, limes, coffee, cashews, guava cherries, cinnamon, bay, or vegetables according to the season. You can challenge yourself to a tough hike down the west coast Waitukubuli trail to the Sulphur baths or even to the villages of Soufriere and Scottshead. Guest access The entire house is available. The path to the garden is to the right of the house, and is available for walks or picking fruit, on a donation basis. Donations can be left on the kitchen counter on checkout. Other things to note Parking: You can park next to the road on your right, theres a grassy parking area. Walk up to the guesthouse, painted yellow and green on the left, look for the welcome sign on the step. The village: Generally laid back and quiet although it comes alive on festive occasions. It is a couple of miles from Grand Bay (often called South City) and has great views across the valley, as well as down to the bay below. General stores, snackettes and small restaurants on the main Lallay road which passes through Grand Bay. Bellevue Shopin: at the main village junction, snacks are available up to 8 pm daily and later on weekends. Attractions: Berekua/Grand Bay/South City At the bottom of the Lallay Road, where it meets the sea is the ruins of the Grand Bay Catholic Church, and a tall stone bell tower on the hills above. in 2015 Tropical Storm Erika caused massive landslides around the island resulting in several deaths and the evacuation and abandonment of two nearby villages- Dubique and Petite Savanne. The road that connected Grand Bay to Delices was destroyed and has yet to be rebuilt. Two years later, in 2017, category 5 Hurricane Maria made landfall on the east coast and impacted the entire island, causing massive destruction. Grocery shops: available in Tete Morne, no large supermarkets. Local bread: Found at Tete Lalay daily, and Visit Bakery on the Geneva Estate, has fresh bread from around 3pm week days.
