Hinterland: Historic Barn
Hinterland: Historic Barn
Description
A historic barn reimagined with natural materials, clay walls, and clean minimalist design. Vast windows frame the rolling Lindetal hills, wild garden, and birds overhead. Light-filled interiors, generous rooms, and a long dining table set the stage for slow evenings with friends. Step onto the terrace for quiet nights under endless stars—modern, sustainable, and fully solar-powered, where nature and architecture meet. 15-25 min walk to the lake. The space This historic barn has been transformed into a modern retreat where design, comfort, and nature meet. Inside, clean lines and natural textures create a calm backdrop for vast views of the Lindetal hills. The heart of the space is the large kitchen: BORA cooktop, oven, dishwasher, a generous SMEG fridge with freezer, and plenty of cookware, condiments, and essentials. A long dining table seats six with ease—perfect for slow dinners with friends. The barn offers three spacious bedrooms, each with a 180 cm bed, plus two bathrooms (one large, one smaller), both with walk-in showers and toilets. A modern heating system and solar power make the house fully sustainable. For cozy evenings, light the large indoor fireplace—firewood is included. Entertainment and downtime are covered: a collection of books and games, a TV with Apple TV for streaming, and a Sonos speaker with Bluetooth for your own soundtrack. Outdoors, a wild garden stretches into the landscape, with a terrace for long summer nights under star-filled skies. There’s garden furniture for six or more and lounge chairs. Surrounded by quiet, nature, and birds of prey circling above, this is a place to unwind, cook, connect, and simply be. Guest access Guests have the barn to themselves. It’s the first house at the edge of the village, surrounded by fields—very quiet and remote, with no direct neighbors. The kitchen opens to the entry area, and the path leading up to the barn is shared with a small stable. The stable is another Airbnb for 2 people adjacent to the barn, but it’s far enough away that once you close the kitchen curtains, you’ll have complete privacy. The barn itself opens directly to the fields, so you may spot the occasional lone hiker passing by, but the grounds are fenced. The garden towards the fields is all yours. All windows are equipped with curtains; note that one of the upstairs bedrooms has lighter curtains, so you may wake with the sunrise. Otherwise, you’re free to enjoy the space entirely on your own—whether relaxing on the terrace, gathering inside, or even dancing around the kitchen without a care. Other things to note 🚗 You can park one car right in front of the wooden gate leading up to the barn. If you’re coming with a second or third car, just drop me a quick message and I’ll point you to easy spots nearby. Since we also run another Airbnb in the stables, we just coordinate a bit so everyone’s sorted. 🪰 Our barn has huge doors (most with mosquito nets), so a few flies — sometimes let in by previous guests — sneak through. They often wait until after cleaning to keel over. So if you spot a dead fly: the floor was cleaned, the fly just had bad timing. Welcome to authentic barn life! 🚪 Talking about flies, mosquitoes, mice, and lizards, it’s part of our house rules not to let doors open for more than a few minutes. There’s wild animal life here that’s (literally) dying to get back into the barn. 🔥 If you need more firewood, please help yourself: from the street and once you walk through the large wooden gate, you’ll find the woodshed on the left side. There is a box for carrying the wood. We try not to store too much firewood inside the house to avoid fire and insect-hotel risk.
