Dordogne Country Home - Year-Round Getaway
Description
Welcome to your Dordogne getaway, 'La Cachette Verte', in the serene Périgord Limousin Regional Natural Park. This is a home – not a gite – where our family lived during renovations, and is now open to guests. We offer year-round stays, from 2 days to 3 months, with a country garden and stone firepit for star-gazing in Summer; and log fires and candle-lit suppers during cozy Winter retreats. Enjoy country walks, chateaus, fine dining and flea markets in this charming corner of France... The space As featured on the British TV Show “Place in the Sun”, this is an authentic period country home faithfully restored - with old charm and all mod-cons. We offer three and a half bedrooms: a primary suite with an emperor bed, walk-in closet and private bathroom with a marble walk-in shower and bath tub. The second guest room features a king-size bed and work desk, and can be used as an office for workaway stays. The third bedroom is ideal for children with two single beds which can be placed together for a further double bed. There is also an additional children’s bed on the landing of an adjoining wing of the house, a thoroughfare to the main bathroom which also features a combined shower and tub. All the bedrooms have ample room for additional cots (we offer one baby travel bed, if required). To make your stay even more comfortable, we offer a pillow menu! The living room, with Persian rugs and European paintings, features lounging sofas and period arm chairs, a smart flat-screen TV, books, board games, a children’s corner, and a wood fire for Winter. The dining room seats six adults plus children, with a wood burner and wall-mounted candle-holders, and an antique Elcké piano tuned and ready to play! The country kitchen offers a Smeg induction oven and farmhouse sink, plus additional modern appliances: a dishwasher, micro-wave, air-fryer, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, and double-door fridge-freezer with ice maker and filtered water dispenser in an adjacent larder. Our private, south-facing garden is the jewel of the house with lavender, rose bushes and fruit trees, quadrant lawns with an outdoor table seating six adults plus children, stone firepit, paddling pool and outdoor toys. Our home is pet friendly. There is fast internet throughout: This property is perfect for mixing business with pleasure for a long or short stays.
