The Winehouse

Description

The Winehouse is an architect-designed, mudbrick home situated on a working vineyard. This home is the perfect place for a friends get-together or family vacation with plenty of room to unwind. Located just outside the lovely village of Malmsbury in the Macedon Ranges on Dja Dja Wurrung Country. Beautiful sunrises light the morning fog rolling over the vineyard, and colourful sunsets sillhouette the abundant fauna of the region. It's the perfect place to unwind. The space The main limewashed, mudbrick house has cathedral ceilings and huge double-glazed windows looking over the Belltopper forest and vineyard. It's a wonderfully inviting space, with woodburner fireplace, tastefully furnished with vintage furniture, rugs, books and art work. The owners have generously left their favourite things for you to enjoy. It an ideal place for a friends reunion or family vacation. The house sleeps eight adults with four queen beds. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is pretty much everything you need to cook a feast, including oven, gas stove, plenty of large pots, saucepans, cast iron pans, baking bits and bobs, gas BBQ, microwave etc. Guests are welcome to help themselves to supplies in the pantry including olive oil, salt, pepper, herbs, spices and sauces. Just outside the kitchen, there is a dining table that seats 8 and is situated in the open plan living and dining area. The swimming pool is finally ready! Set behind the house to perfectly capture sunset views over the rolling hills (though in winter we'd highly recommend nestling in by the fireplace instead!) Upstairs, the master bedroom has a custom made, queen bed from a Melbourne carpenter, along with a parents retreat/office and a small en-suite bathroom. From the “parents wing”, there are stunning views over the property and living space to read and unwind or work. Each bedroom is made up with gorgeous linen from Hanna Home and has its own unique style. There is a reading room located in an annexe at the top of the stairs with a daybed which can accommodate an additional guest if required. There is a shared bathroom downstairs with a separate shower and a deep bath/shower that you can luxuriate in, soaking up the private garden view from the long window that's positioned next to the bath. We supply Denu Natural body, hair & home products and Sheridan towels for guests to use during their stay. Denu is a local organic Melbourne brand and Australian made. All bed linen and a full set of towels are provided. Bring your slippers, as the mornings up in the Macedon Ranges can be chilly even in summer, but there is of course heating and cooling (a fire place and split system) and the house once warmed up is very cosy. Slippers just top off the experience! There is a washing machine, hills hoist and dryer that you are welcome to use and is useful for longer stays. There are two stunning decks and a wrap-around verandah with outdoor furniture to enjoy the various views with some wine or your coffee and massive glass sliding doors on two sides of the house that let the light pour in. Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the entire house and deck but the rest of the property is a working vineyard and may be shared by others, including winery workers and guests who may be staying at the converted train cabin/caboose. You might see a member of our team near the cellar door or in the vines working their magic. As a working vineyard there is machinery, sheds and barrels etc about that are out of bounds and hazardous. We kindly ask guests not to enter the vines without our permission due to disease risk to the vines. But visitors are otherwise welcome to meander the property (around 20 acres) or we can give you some tips to do things locally. We ask that all gates are closed behind visitors to keep livestock in. Please note, the cellar door is not currently open as we rebrand. We are available if you need any assistance during your stay but otherwise, we respect your privacy. Other things to note Drummond is part of the Hepburn Shire. The Dja Dja Wurrung are the traditional owners of the region. We respect and acknowledge the vital role of the traditional custodians of the land on which Zig Zag is located. This region is widely known for its spa culture and tourism. The winery is situated close to Malmsbury, Kyneton, Trentham, Castlemaine and Daylesford so the perfect launching pad to explore the central Victorian goldfields and spa country. The winery is close to Malmsbury Train Station (five minutes by car). There are ride-share services available but otherwise, a car is required to explore the area. Dogs may only be brought by prior arrangement and after approval. Notes for guests bringing children: Please note, the property is not fully gated or fenced except for the swimming pool. Children must be supervised and not allowed to wander away from the house. Being a country property there are of course snakes, dams, livestock and working machinery around, so we strictly ask that children and pets stay in the homestead area. Notes for guests bringing dogs: Not all dogs will be suitable to stay at the property. Please call ahead to check requirements due to unique surroundings.
