Firefly is a beautiful timber frame cabin on 2 acres of land w/ parking and a sauna! Surrounding windows offer views of pines & a small glimmer of Lake Superior. Perfect for solo adventures & couples willing to pack-in/pack-out. You are the CLEANER (you must vacuum, wipe, remove ALL food/garbage/rocks/crumbs and leave tidy!). It's fundamental to providing a healthy space for the next folks seeking a peaceful place to rest and rejuvenate. Near Superior Hiking Trail, Coho/Bluefin Bay, Lutsen The space Firefly is a newly built, beautifully crafted one-room timber frame cabin on 2-acres of private land. The 16’x16' log cabin has all-surrounding windows and glimmer-sized views of Lake Superior and pine forest. In addition to the magical hygge vibe of this cabin, you can also find beauty and artistry in its architecture - a traditional Norwegian cabin with unique design twists by arctic explorer, Lonnie Dupre, and handcrafted timber frame held together with wood peg joinery by local master craftsman, Peter Henrikson, of North House Folk School. Firefly has convenient parking right next to the cabin. Public access to Lake Superior is about 2 blocks away. Firefly also has the luxury of an electric sauna and gas fireplace run by a thermostat. Firefly takes a bit more care than most Airbnbs, which provides you with a lower cost and later check-out. You are the CLEANER, so you need do these activities: Vacuum the floor and rugs, Wipe all surfaces clean, Wash/dry and put away dishes, Empty sauna buckets, Fold blankets nicely for next guest, Remove all food and garbage and take all belongings with you, (nothing left behind) TIDY and make it nice for the next guests! Clean and restore everything to its original place! You provide : Queen Sheets and pillowcases. Towels (kitchen dishtowels, bath). Cleaning: You are the cleaner - you avoid paying a cleaning fee and are given a late check out to allow you to clean fully after your stay. All cleaning supplies are provided. Firefly provides: Electricity. A queen-size bed, blankets, pillows. A kitchen equipped for cooking: 2 burner electric stovetop, mini fridge/freezer, full kitchen dishes/utensils/pots/pans, a toaster oven, garbage bags/foil/etc. A dining/work table. Two lounge chairs, An indoor gas fireplace with a thermostat. An outdoor charcoal grill, deck and camping chairs, a fire pit. And an electric sauna with bucket shower. Water: Well water is available on the land for drinking/cooking/cleaning. You fill and carry 2-gallon water jugs, which are provided for you. The well is run by an easy on/off switch and is accessible year-round (must be willing to jump a snowbank on occasion). There's also a clean, cute outhouse with 30 feet of the cabin (with heat lamp linked to a flip switch inside the cabin and yoga-mat toilet seat to prevent a frozen bum during the wintertime!). Guest access There is a keypad with a code, so you can let yourself in. Other things to note You provide: Queen sheets Towels (kitchen and bath) There isn't any running water inside the cabin, but you can collect water from the well. It's a natural artesian well with an easy on/off button. It has been approved for drinking and is available year-round. There are refillable 2-gallon water jugs serving as a faucet over the kitchen sink making it easy to clean dishes/self-wash etc. It empties into a “gray-water” bucket under the sink which can be dumped when full. There’s a plastic tub for easy self-cleaning, and water heats up very quickly in the electric kettle.
