Ashwood Barn

Ashwood barn in the beautiful village of Wrightington, Lancashire. Only 5 minutes from junction 27 M6. An old cow shed, converted to a beautiful 3 bedroom cottage with original oak beam features. There’s 3 double/twin bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Downstairs is open plan traditional kitchen, dining area and living room with log burner. The cottage is a quiet family retreat, not suited to loud parties. Well behaved ponies (spare stable) & dogs welcome, dogs must be kept on lead near ponies & animals. The space Downstairs is an open plan space which includes living area, dining area and kitchen. It has a traditional cottage feel with wooden worktops, open beams, wood and stone floors. There's a utility and drying room downstairs and also a downstairs toilet. Upstairs there's 3 spacious bedrooms with traditional open beams. The master bedroom has a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom with bath, toilet and a large walk in shower. There are 2 other bedrooms, one has twin beds and the other a king size bed. You can host 6 adults in the property if required (with a squeeze), but it would better suit 4 adults and 2 children as a maximum, due to the general space available. There's also a 2nd separate family bathroom upstairs with bath, shower and toilet. It’s great for families, especially if your children like animals. There’s chickens in the garden and in the woodland (you can collect eggs for breakfast). There’s 2 Pygmy goats in the garden (when they haven’t escaped), called Buzz and Woody. We also have 5 ponies in the stables and paddock who love attention, especially Almond the miniature Shetland. We also have a small flock of Herdwick sheep. If you’re a walker, cyclist, runner or outdoor enthusiast, there’s plenty of routes in the area. Just ask and we can advise to suit all abilities and fitness levels. There's also a gym in the barn if you're feeling energetic. At the farm next door is The Balance Barn Wrightington, a Pilates and Yoga studio. There’s classes on most days. The White Lion Wrightington is our local pub within walking distance and it's very popular (with good reason). We also have and a local farm shop, local butcher and Spar shop within 5 minutes drive. Thompson House Equestrian Centre is 2 miles away with indoor and outdoor facilities. If you’d like a horse riding lesson, they have availability most days.
