The River House

The River House is a boutique, fully-furnished, lovingly restored 5 bedroom guest house, (sleeps 10, or 12 with sofa bed) located in the heart of the quiet rural town of Macksville in the Nambucca Valley. Mid-way between Sydney and Brisbane, the River House is the perfect stop-over for a restful break of lazy days exploring the beautiful Nambucca Valley, a family/group getaway location. On site parking, and 3 separate fully self-contained suites. The space Originally built by local businessman Angie Hall for his family in 1910, the stately Federation River house stood tall and generated a local presence over the years. Susan’s (your host) grandparents were foundational members of the Taylors Arm and Bowraville communities in the early 1900’s. At this time the Nambucca River was the life-source for the community with merchant and logging ships docking at the Macksville Wharf close to the River House. In 2018 David and Susan Cooper purchased the property and created a vision for a luxury guesthouse to honour the history, the heritage and spirit of the original home, while providing a contemporary, boutique accommodation option in the Valley. The 1910 structure was full of embodied energy, so a renovation to honour the history of the home was planned and the vision created. The River House features materials and colour schemes inspired by the Nambucca River. Unique, antique furniture sourced from local houses over many years by the previous owner have been lovingly restored and influence the interior design of the main house, while the two suites feature complementary bespoke modern pieces. Guest access If you book The River House you have full run of the entire property. This includes 3 self-contained suites with multiple living and dining areas, decks and balconies and a beautiful heated lap pool, outdoor shower, and adjacent terrace with outdoor kitchen and BBQ area. You can park in our 3 car garage fitted out with an EV charger. Stan and Netflix provided on all new digital TVs and fully ducted reverse cycle air conditioning throughout. Other things to note If you are booking the entire River House property you may bring children under 12.
