Description
Completely gut & rebuilt in 2015. Modern, bright, clean, open floor plan, large windows, hardwood floors. Walk-in closet, small desk. High quality queen bed, washer dryer. Looks onto yard & trees – very peaceful & quiet. Private in-law unit on the lower floor, completely separate entrance. 5min walk to shops (bakery, coffee, cocktails, beer & burgers, olive oil shop, home shop). Lots of hike/bike trails to bay views near by. 10-25min bike/walk to campus or BART. Discount for longer stays. The space COVID update: The apartment is completely self-contained with its own entrance, laundry, etc. so there are no worries about contact. The apartment will be empty for at least 3 days prior to your arrival and we will pay to have it professionally deep cleaned. Gig internet for working from home; desk looks out onto trees. Everyone in the neighborhood is very conscious of using masks and not gathering in groups--we are very far away from the frats, and I have actually never seen a party in our neighborhood (even before covid). Oakland and Berkeley have good weather year round, so you will still be able to go outside for walks in January and February; there is very nice walking, we are near many beautiful trails, and the neighborhood is nice for walking in. Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh deliver contactless groceries. Basically perfect place to be during covid (all things considered). __________ We entirely gut and renovated this flat in 2015 years ago, with brand new interior walls, new bathroom, new kitchen, new floors, new furniture, new appliances, etc. It is spacious (600 sq ft) and modern, with an open floor plan, hardwood floors, and large windows. The bedroom has a walk-in closet and a small desk. The living room and bedroom look out onto trees and a yard. It's fully furnished. Very comfortable high quality queen bed, L-shaped couch, washer dryer (private), full kitchen (including a dishwasher/garbage disposal), gig wifi, a projector and screen (to watch tv / movies from your computer), all utilities paid. It's on the lower level of a three level mid-century modern home. Private in-law unit on the lower floor of a three floor house (the middle and top floors are ours), completely private and separate entrance. (If we don't intentionally meet you to introduce ourselves, we will likely never see you.) To reach the entrance, you have to go down two flights of exterior stairs, then up one flight to reach the door. Some of our living space is above the unit, but we try to be conscientious about noise and none of our previous tenants has complained. We put in the thickest sound proofing insulation that we could between the unit and the middle floor, which seems to work well. However, there are some times when you might hear us - particularly, between around 5:30-8:00pm on most weeknights and a few hours on weekends, we hang around the middle flour with our (small) kids (bedtime is 7:30 or 8, after which the kids are on the top floor). Most other times, we are either on the top floor or away (work/daycare during the week, out and about on weekends). Guest access there are two levels of outdoor space: guests can have access to the upper level outside their door, but our kids have access to the lower level which has their play structure on it. Other things to note Perfect for one person or a couple - no pets, and not child friendly. Requires going down two flights of stairs to reach the front door. We have two children, a 3 and a year old. No smoking, no burning incense or similar intense smells. Our neighborhood is very quiet, so someone who values and respects tranquility would be ideal. Lower floor of a 3 floor house - we put in intense sound proofing, but from 5-8pm you may hear some noise from our 2 year old if he decides to jump around and throw things (which we then stop him from doing) - read description for more on our 2 year old's schedule.
