One of The Oak's standout features is its spacious bathroom, complete with a luxurious jacuzzi bath and rainfall shower — perfect for a long soak after a day exploring County Durham. The Oak is situated within our private 6-acre estate and there may be guests staying in other accommodation on site, so you may occasionally see other people within the wider outdoor areas. Free private parking is available. THE NEIGHBOURHOOD The Oak is surrounded by peaceful County Durham countryside, providing a relaxing rural escape while remaining within easy reach of Durham City, Bishop Auckland and Kynren. Oakenshaw Nature Reserve is also nearby, with ponds, wildlife and countryside walks to enjoy. The estate's distinctive entrance turret takes inspiration from the area's historic landmarks, including Durham Castle and Auckland Castle. GETTING AROUND A car is recommended to make the most of your stay and explore the surrounding countryside, attractions, restaurants and local villages. Free private parking is available on site. 🔇 QUIET HOURS As there may be other guests staying elsewhere on the estate, we have strict quiet hours from 10pm–8am. Noise must be kept to a minimum during these hours, particularly when using the hot tub and outdoor areas. If these quiet hours do not suit your plans, please do not book this property. HOUSE RULES 🚫 STRICTLY NO PETS Please remove shoes in carpeted areas. Shoe trays are provided by the main entrance. IMPORTANT INFORMATION 🔥 WOOD-FIRED HOT TUB Your first hot tub session is complimentary. The hot tub has its own hot-water tap, allowing you to fill it fresh at a time that suits you. We provide the wood, kindling, paper and firelighters — simply fill the tub, light the fire and allow it to heat. 🏡 PART OF THE BARN OAKENSHAW ESTATE The Oak is one of 7 different booking options available across our countryside estate, allowing us to accommodate groups from 2 to 16 guests.
