The space Allonby, set 6 miles away on the coast, is a designated national landscape – home to charming Georgian and Victorian architecture and a long, sandy beach favoured by kite and wind surfers, with views across to the mountains of southern Scotland. The magnificent Western Lakes are within 11 miles at Bassenthwaite. Here, enjoy tranquil lakeside footpaths with wonderful views, and peaceful water activities including swimming and paddleboarding. Visit the childhood home of the poet William Wordsworth in Cockermouth (9 miles). The interior of your holiday home has a charming country-cottage theme, with soft, subtle colours. From the hallway, with a handy area for boots and coats, enter the spacious kitchen, where you’ll find everything needed to rustle up tasty meals after a day by the sea or hiking the fells.
