Squirrels Lodge

Tucked among mature trees within the peaceful grounds of West Down Estate, Squirrels Lodge is a timber-clad retreat offering all one-level accommodation for up to four guests, with one bedroom and a sofa bed in the living area. The space The entrance opens directly into a light, open-plan living space. The kitchen, fitted with an electric oven and hob, kettle, fridge and all the essential cookware, crockery and utensils, sits to one side, while a corner sofa (which converts into a sofa bed) and a small dining area with stools occupy the other. A wood-burning stove adds warmth and cosiness, and a television is provided. A sliding door leads through to the bedroom, with an en-suite bathroom featuring a walk-in shower, toilet and basin. Outside, a gravel track leads up to the lodge, with a few steps rising to a private decked terrace complete with a bubbling hot tub and outdoor seating, ideal for soaking up the countryside views and watching for passing deer. There is no enclosed garden, but the wider estate grounds are lovely to explore. Bed linen and towels are provided, along with heating and electricity, all included in the price. Guests are asked to bring their own beach towels for day trips or hot tub use. Parking is available for one car near the main gates of the estate, just a short walk from the lodge, with a few steps up to the entrance. Please note this property is accessed via an uneven path with steps, so it is not suitable for guests with restricted mobility or wheelchair users. Children are welcome. Unfortunately dogs cannot be accommodated at this property. Smoking is strictly not permitted. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 10am.
