Welcome to Knatten, a historic property in the heart of Horten. Uniquely located, with beautiful panoramic views of the Oslo fjord. Only a few minutes' walk from the city's shops and restaurants – also a short distance to the fjord and beaches. Knatten has been welcoming guests since 1823, and it's easy to feel at home here. Stay in the guesthouse – a private suite of 30 m² with, among other things, a luxury bed, a corner sofa, and a dining area. Enjoy the main house, which is full of soul, where a shared, well-equipped kitchen and bathroom are available 24/7. The space The 200-year-old garden is green and lush with beautiful views and large, venerable trees. Perfect for yoga and nice meals, or just relax in the hammock and enjoy the views and peaceful atmosphere. MAIN BUILDING 1st floor. Kitchen: Start the day with coffee from the espresso machine and prepare meals at your convenience. Coffee beans, tea, olive oil and spices, etc. are included. The well-equipped and spacious kitchen has a pleasant dining area with a dining table from the 1700s. Equipped with stove, dishwasher, smoothie maker, juicer, sandwich maker, waffle iron, toaster, plus much more. Bathroom: Tiled bathroom with shower, sink, toilet and washing machine. As well as a hair dryer and curling iron. Fresh towels, soap, shampoo, and toilet paper are included. An iron, ironing table and drying rack are available. 2nd floor: A private, small bedroom with 2 single beds, a closet and a chair. All beds are made. GUESTHOUSE A large, private guest suite (30 m²) with a luxurious king-size bed, corner sofa, and dining table. Here there is a fridge, coffee maker, kettle, air fryer, drinking water container, tea and coffee, and some kitchen utensils – as well as a clothes rack, books, games and an electric piano. Workstation With fast fiber Wi-Fi and plenty of power outlets, the large dining room table can also serve as a workspace. The guesthouse does not have a private bathroom. Guests have 24-hour access to the kitchen and bathroom in the main house, which are shared with a discreet and considerate host. In addition, there is a separate small room in the guest house with a functional camping toilet, intended only for possible nighttime use. Bicycle Horten is an official bike city and a paradise for cyclists. Bicycle maps are available, and you are welcome to borrow my bicycle. Knatten The property represents the early start of Hortens' urban development and is protected as an important local historical cultural monument. The main house was built in 1823 as a captain's residence associated with Norway's main naval base, Karljohansvern – which today has been converted into a beautiful cultural park with museums, art galleries, and cultural experiences, just a short walk away from Knatten. Guest access Guests have access to the entire property, except for a separate part of the house and the garden, where the host's two friendly dogs live. They are former service dogs and are extremely calm and friendly around people. All interaction with the dogs is completely optional.
