Welcome to Knatten, a historic property in the heart of Horten. Uniquely located with beautiful panoramic views of the Oslofjord – just a few minutes' walk from the town's shops and restaurants, and also a short distance to the fjord and beaches. For 200 years, Knatten has been welcoming guests. Enjoy the garden and stay in the guesthouse, a private suite of 30 m², with a luxurious king-size bed, kitchenette, dining table, and corner sofa. The main house, dating from 1823, is full of character, with a shared, well-equipped kitchen and bathroom available 24/7. The space The 200-year-old garden is green and lush with beautiful views and large, venerable trees. Perfect for pleasant meals, yoga, a good book, or just relaxing in the hammock and enjoying the view. MAIN BUILDING 1st floor. Kitchen: Start the day with coffee from the espresso machine and prepare meals at your convenience. Coffee beans, tea, olive oil and spices, etc. are included. The well-equipped and spacious kitchen has a pleasant dining area with a dining table from the 1700s. Equipped with stove, dishwasher, smoothie maker, juicer, sandwich maker, waffle iron, toaster, plus much more. Bathroom: Tiled bathroom with shower, sink, toilet and washing machine. Fresh towels, soap, shampoo, and toilet paper are included. A hair dryer, curling iron, iron, ironing table and drying rack are available. 2nd floor: A private, small bedroom with 2 single beds and a chair. All beds are made. GUESTHOUSE A large private guest suite (30 m²) with a luxurious, comfortable king-size bed, corner sofa and dining table. Here there is a kitchenette with a sink, a fridge and hobs. As well as a coffee maker, kettle, air fryer, tea and coffee, and some kitchen utensils. There is also a clothes rack, a spacious clothes dresser, as well as some books and games. Workstation With fast fiber Wi-Fi and plenty of power outlets, the large dining room table can also serve as a workspace. Bathroom The new bathroom in the guesthouse will be completed at the end of November. Until then, guests have access (24/7) to the bathroom in the main house, which is otherwise shared with a discreet and considerate host. In addition, there is a separate small room in the guest house with a functional camping toilet, intended only for possible nighttime use. Bicycle Horten is an official bike city and a paradise for cyclists. Bicycle maps are available, and you are welcome to borrow my bicycle. The property Knatten is protected as an important local historical cultural heritage site and represents the early beginnings of Horten's urban development. The main house was built in 1823 as an officers' residence associated with Norway's main naval base, Karljohansvern. Today, Karljohansvern has been converted into a green, beautiful cultural park with museums, art galleries, squares, cafes and beautiful hiking trails. Concerts and great festivals are also held during the summer months. Karljohansvern is a short walk away from Knatten. Guest access Guests have access to the entire property, except for a separate part of the main house and the garden, where the host's two friendly dogs stay. They are former service dogs and are extremely quiet and friendly around people. All interaction with the dogs is totally optional.
