Get away from it all in this charming, off grid cabin in the middle of 1,200 acres of Maine forest. 6 miles of private road will carry you past ancient maples and a beautiful, swimmable pond. Dogs are welcome and local squirrels can give them a run for you. Wild turkey, deer, and other forest dwellers are frequently seen; sometimes from the comfort of the front porch and, when night comes, you won't believe the stars. Space to set up tents is also available for an additional fee. This is glamping. The nearest neighbor is over a mile away. So this cabin is a place for people to reconnect with nature and with each other and bring their dogs along. It is an excellent place for quiet walks in the woods, wine or whiskey under the stars, being together and just enjoying being. This is a place for people who love the deep woods but also like indoor plumbing and a microwave. During the week, there are occasionally gravel or timber trucks running nearby but at night, it is absolutely quiet aside from owls. See the video walkthrough here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXkugAAzNOo Guests have access to everything. Your neighbors will be assorted flora and fauna including the maples from which we make syrup in the spring. There is no public transportation serving this location. This cabin is in a family owned working forest which means that we do occasionally cut timber and have it hauled out. There is also a gravel pit and the result is that trucks may be on one of our nearby roads on weekdays. It is not available in November which is deer season. We have several hunters who come back year after year. Please note our 2 night minimum. People are invited to stay one night but the charge in that case is still for 2 nights because setting up the cabin involves some or all of hauling firewood for heat, gasoline for power, propane for the grill and so on. Because of cleaning requirements, we need 48 hours notice of new reservations. It's recommended that dogs have tick protection. It's worth noting that there are porcupines in our area. Also, we ask that poop be scooped up within 50 feet of the cabin.
