Description

Located in the heart of Corsewall Estate, Garden Cottage forms the west wing of the 18th Century Corsewall House and has wonderful sea views across Loch Ryan. Recently restored, with three en suite bedrooms, this luxury self-catering cottage comfortably accommodates six. It has a fabulous network of woodland walks and coastal paths on its doorstep. The space Located in the heart of Corsewall Estate, close to the village of Kirkcolm, Garden Cottage forms the west wing of the 18th Century Corsewall House and has wonderful views across Loch Ryan. Recently restored, with three en suite bedrooms, this luxury self-catering cottage comfortably accommodates six. The living area downstairs is open plan with a stylish kitchen including a Belfast sink and large dining table. The spacious sitting room is south facing and overlooks the extensive estate gardens, which in spring burst with colour from the Rhododendrons and Azaleas. There is twin/double bedroom with zip and link beds on the ground floor with an en suite bathroom. There is also a shower room & WC and a utility room. Upstairs, there is a twin and a double bedroom with a bathroom and en suite shower room respectively. All linen, towels, extra thick, feather-filled duvets and pillows are provided. Heating and electricity are also included. Garden Cottage is equipped with a De Longhi coffee machine, a Smart TV, DVD player; Roberts radio, Bluetooth speaker, WiFi, a selection of board games and books. It has its own private garden area including garden furniture, a croquet set and a barbecue. There is also a games room with ping pong and an air hockey table, a singles tennis court, large trampoline, climbing frame with swings and a slide and zip wire in the Estate gardens. Corsewall Estate has three pretty beaches on Loch Ryan - Boat Bank, Lady Bay and Port Beg - that Garden Cottage guests can explore. A pretty walk down one of the drives will take you to Boat Bank, which is the nearest one to Garden and Stables Cottage. Both Boat Bank and Lady Bay are wonderful spots if you like collecting shells or pebbles - oyster shells and mussels to cowries and scallop shells never fail to disappoint. Bird watching down on the shores of Loch Ryan or in the woods is second to none. Lady Bay is our favourite spot for swimming and paddle boarding. Garden Cottage has huge lawns in front of the house - so it's a great place for children to play football or for a game of croquet - croquet set supplied! The gardens provide a secure environment for children and it is a wonderful location for them to enjoy the great outdoors. Located in over 20 acres of gardens and woodland adjacent to Corsewall House, there are lots of wonderful woodland walks and coastal paths around the estate you can enjoy. In late January and February, the woods feature charming drifts of snowdrops followed by daffodils and in April and May the hue turns to purple with acres of bluebells. There is colour in the gardens almost all the way through the year starting with camellia from January to March, followed by a riot of colour in April and May as the rhododendrons and azaleas come into flower. The autumn sees the hydrangeas providing colour all the way through to November. There is oodles of wildlife to spot – from roe deer and hares to barn owls, woodpeckers and most importantly, this area is one of the last bastions of the red squirrel. We have a second cottage, Stables Cottage, about 50 metres from Garden Cottage, which sleeps 4 - so groups of up to 10 can easily be accommodated in both locations. The Blue Peter pub in the village of Kirkcolm - approximately 5 minutes walk away - the pub has good pub grub and we can thoroughly recommend the fish and chips - a must while on holiday by the sea! Guest access Guests have access to the whole house and all of Corsewall Estate - which can be accessed via a network of coastal and woodland paths.
