Kamui Kids House

A home base for rest, reconnection, and gentle adventure. Kamui Kids House is our community hub and lodging space in Funagata, Yamagata—tucked between the mountains and the Oguni River. It’s a space where families, friends, and fellow travelers can gather, slow down, and reconnect with nature and each other. We use the house for weekday programs and seasonal learning adventures, but it’s also available for private stays by visiting families and supporters. The space This spacious, welcoming home in the quiet community of Funagata offers comfort and flexibility for short or long stays. The property has 13 bedrooms and a variety of shared spaces, including a 24-tatami mat lounge, a large fully equipped kitchen, a shared library, and a comfortable waiting area. Guests have access to a large bathroom, washer and dryer, and year-round climate control with both heating and air conditioning. Two guest rooms are available: Family Room – Accommodates up to eight guests. Japanese-Style Tatami Room – Fits up to four adults; children may also be accommodated depending on the group size. Additional amenities include on-site parking for two cars, two bicycles for guest use, and a shaded, covered barbecue area. Set between mountains and river, the location is scenic, peaceful, and well-suited for families, friends, or travelers looking to rest, reconnect, and enjoy the small-town charm of Funagata. Guest access Guests are welcome to use all shared spaces in the house freely. You may spend time in any of these areas during your stay, but sleeping is only permitted in the private guest room you have booked and paid for. Shared spaces are not available for sleeping.
