The Domaine d'Evolène

An authentic mountain chalet, a mazot for 2 people built 100% by the owners in the mountain tradition, with local, untreated wood. The cottage is located on a 1.2-hectare enclosed and wooded estate (more than 550 trees, 22 species of birds are present on the estate). Our dog friends are welcome, a totally isolated "chalet" niche is available to them and they can sleep with you in the mazot. Other things to note The hosts, Marie Anne and Martial ALBAR are from Haute Savoie. So it was naturally that they built and arranged their land with mountain inspiration. Evolène, the name of the Domaine is the first name of their young daughter who will accompany them in welcoming the clientele. They are all three passionate about nature, animals, mountains, hiking, climbing. They want to share with their guests the authentic living environment they built themselves. The cottage is located on a 1.2 hectare enclosed and wooded estate: more than 550 trees and 22 species of birds are present on the estate. The chalet allows lovers of calm, nature, concerned about their real and measurable environmental impact, to benefit from a relaxing setting. Even in the summer during hot episodes, the nights are significantly refreshed. Indeed, the Domaine d'Evolène is located 670 meters above sea level. This favorable altitude, its geographical location and, above all, its landscaping make it possible to enjoy relatively mild nighttime temperatures during periods of high heat.  During the last historic heat wave in June 2026, nighttime temperatures varied from 16 degrees to 19 degrees at the end of the heat wave period. Le Domaine therefore makes it possible to endure these periods of high heat more comfortably. The unheated shower in Colorado then becomes a real source of refreshment. Our friends the dogs, kept on a leash, are welcome, a totally isolated "chalet" niche is available to them. You can walk your dog on a leash on part of the estate and long country paths are just 300 meters away. This is not a gite, so there is no indoor kitchen. Nevertheless, a barbecue is available (charcoal and small wood available) and a gas stove in an outdoor kitchenette allows a rudimentary kitchen. Dishes are provided and washing is provided by the hosts. You have a piston coffee maker, a kettle and drinking water is provided as much as you need. Access to the upstairs bedroom requires a steep but short and secure staircase that requires physical validity. The eco shower has a low flow rate (10 L/minute). It contains 200 liters of unheated water but naturally tempered by sunshine. Charging is obviously at will, but the goal of limited storage is to see its consumption in practice. The 2 sinks are connected to a common 100 liter tank. The goal is therefore to quantify the water consumed in an eco-responsible approach to its use. This particularity therefore makes it possible to measure its environmental impact very concretely. Biodegradable sheets, towels, shower gel, hand soap and shampoo are provided. Fully thermally insulated, no chemical treatment, no WiFi, power source on energy station, dry toilet, shower and sinks connected to tanks powered by network water. The lights are USB rechargeable and managed by you thanks to the power station. A "Cheque of 500 euros" deposit is required mainly for the energy station. The check will not be cashed and will be returned at the end of your stay if no problem. Thank you! The village of the municipality is 400 meters away, which allows you to walk quietly to the bakery or grocery store.
