Welcome to "The Oakleaf" near the Lost River Valley in Mathias, WV. This cozy 2-bedroom 1 bath cabin offers an ideal getaway for those looking to escape the hustle & bustle of city life, offering simplicity & relaxation. Located just a short drive from George Washington National Forest, Trout Pond Recreation Area, & Lost River State Park, outdoor enthusiasts can find an abundance of hiking, fishing, or horseback riding. There's also meditation, yoga, & antique shopping in the local area. The space The Oakleaf features an open concept kitchen that shares space with the living room and dining room. Large windows throughout allow for abundant sunlight to fill the space and views of the surrounding wooded acres from every room providing a connection with nature in a serene and relaxing environment. The cabin has 2 bedrooms (one with a queen-sized bed and the other with two twin beds). Each bedroom offers a small closet with hangers and minimalist hanging storage for clothing. The "Queen" bedroom has a couple nightstands with small "touch" lamps that offer charging options for your electrical devices. The "Twin" bedroom has "twinkle" remote controlled lights around each window that are dimmable and may be left on without twinkling. Please turn off when not in use. There is one full bath that has a shower and tub. A stacked washer/dryer is also located in the bathroom. The kitchen offers most of the basic necessities needed during your stay. We also offer a French press coffee maker. There are some items in the refrigerator, freezer, and cupboards that guests may help themselves to - just let us know so we may restock anything used. The living area has a small wood-burning fireplace* that is perfect for cozying up on chilly evenings and seamlessly integrates with the intimate and modern kitchen (*will be repaired in December 2025, apologies for the inconvenience). Step outside onto the wrap around deck or out back into a screened in porch that is ideal for enjoying a morning cup of coffee or cozying up with a good book. Step off the porch and onto the gravel path that takes you over to the fire pit for an evening of star gazing and s'mores. The fire pit includes an optional grill grate to roast meat, veggies and more - please see arrival guide for additional details. The community of Sniders Ridge has minimal restrictions and a lovely park-like setting and is so quiet that the road is a perfect trail for evening strolls. Don’t be surprised if while you are meandering along you are invited into one of the neighbors’ homes for libations and delightful conversation. Thanks for visiting The Oakleaf! Guest access Full access to entire cabin and outdoor space. Guests are provided a pin code to enter the cabin prior to check-in. Other things to note No TV available. We encourage reconnecting with nature and relaxing while at The Oakleaf! Cellular service is very limited in the area and is offered at the cabin. Wi-Fi Calling allows for calls to come in and go out, sometimes may be limited due to reception. Guests may want to restart their mobile phone and then connect to internet and wifi calling. Alcohol may be made available for each stay - guests can have drinks offered inside thw refrigerator and one bottle of wine. If guests prefer to have alcohol removed, please let me know in advance (at time of booking) so that I can ensure they are put away. Otherwise, feel free to store in one of the cupboards after you arrive. Some provisions are also available in the kitchen as we keep some items in stock for when we visit. Please help yourself to some coffee, drinks in the fridge, and food items that you may find you need during your stay.
