Converted Inn: Calm comfort by The Lake District

Step inside Crown House and feel instantly at home among its inviting furnishings, exposed beams, and thoughtful touches. With easy access to Ullswater, Keswick and the fells, after a day of adventures and exploring you’ll find calm by curling up with a relaxing drink on the sofa. Whether tracing trails, enjoying the Lakeside scenery or simply taking slow moments far from the rush of everyday life; Crown House provides a base for roaming, a place to rest and a refuge for returning to yourself. The space Set in the Cumbrian hamlet of Little Blencowe, Crown House is one half of an Inn that has stood on this spot since the 18th century (perhaps even earlier but records are a bit scant). On one of the older byways from Penrith to Keswick (now route 71 of the national cycle network, and just off the M6), the Inn will have seen its fair share of guests throughout the centuries, all with tales to tell. Although fully modernised there are clear nods to its past with thick stone walls and exposed original beams in almost every room. The home is suited to a range of guests, including adventurers, groups of friends or those who want to take things at a slower pace. Families (including furry friends) have also made use of the facilities and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. On the ground floor you will find an open plan living room, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. The living room seats 6 and has a smart TV where you can log in to all your favourite streaming services (don’t forget to log out at the end of your stay!). There is also a small selection of books and games for you to borrow for quiet nights. The kitchen has all plates/knives and forks and cooking utensils you will need. There is a kettle, oven and hob, microwave and fridge freezer. Penrith has a range of supermarkets (including budget options) and is just a 10-15 minutes drive away. To the rear of the house is a utility room with dishwasher and washing machine and shoe rack. The back door opens to a secure alley with covered bike storage. Upstairs are two very well presented double en-suite bedrooms (one can be made up into a twin) and a third single bedroom across from the family bathroom, which has a full size bath. Across the road is a picnic bench that belongs to the property which you are free to use. Being just a 10 minute drive to the Lake District National Park, Crown House is ideally situated for exploring the Northern Lakes. It’s 15 minutes from Penrith and access to the Pennines, 20 minutes from Keswick and a short drive to the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are several pub options and restaurants (serving local beers and food) within two miles and Greystoke village with its outdoor pool and Castle is just down the road. Guest access You have access to the entire property other than the storeroom and cupboard under the stairs. Other things to note Crown House is a very old building and as such has some surprises, such as low doors and a slightly irregular staircase. So mind your head and mind your step! You will be unlikely to have mobile signal inside, but our super fast WIFI throughout the house will still allow you to stay connected to the outside world.
