Description

Villa Mäntynokka is unique, modern and fully equipped luxurious villa designed by the famous Finnish designer Pekka Helin. The villa is located in Jalassaari by the lake Lohja, about 1 hour drive from Helsinki or the main airport. This is a very private place that is suitable for couples, families with kids, and furry friends (dogs) as well. This is our second home, not a hotel and should be treated with great respect and care. Strictly no parties allowed. The space The main building, dating back to year 2006, is a very modern and fully equipped villa designed by the famous Finnish designer Pekka Helin. When completed, the unique villa project was displayed in a prominent national magazine in a multi-page story. The villa is mostly used privately, but due to relatively low usage and very high maintenance, we have recently decided to rent out a few weeks during the year. The limited availability also means, that the exact dates may in some cases be accommodated to you specific needs. The main building (138m2) is located on a headland hilltop with 180 degrees lake view. It has 3 bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, spacious dining / living room and 2 bathrooms (one of them next to the master bedroom) . The large dining table is located under large glass construction (part of the roof and the wall facing the lake), thus providing a unique dining experience. The villa is surrounded by large (100m2) roofed terrace, where you can dine and/or play games even during a rainy day. The building has electric heating (including floor heating in all spaces). Both houses have a fireplace which will make your stay cosier during the cold time of the year. The fireplace in the main building also opens up to the roofed terrace, and is commonly used for atmosphere when having dinner outside during the summer. The sauna building (approx. 25m2) is a separate, more traditional Finnish (Honkarakenne) log house. Besides the wood-heated sauna and shower, there is a small living room with sofa, fireplace and semi-equipped kitchen (no stove or oven). The loft with three beds is accessed via solid staircase with handrails, but may still be unaccessible for people with physical disabilities. The is also a barbecue hut for all-year-round use with terrace right above the lake. There are two piers, one smaller facing the morning sun and the other (main one) capturing the sunset. You can explore the lake by rowing boat. (Also possibility to rent a motorboat from Lohja) There are total 10 beds, 7 of them in the 3 bedrooms of the main building, and 3 in the loft of the sauna building: Bedroom 1 (“the yellow room”) has a large, on-site constructed queen-size bunk bed, with an additional pull-out bed. Optimal (and fun!) for 5 kids or 3 adults. Bedroom 2 (“the princess room”) has two separate beds. All the furniture is originally from an old Swedish manor house. Bedroom 3 (“the master bedroom”) has a double bed (can be separated easily) and WC/shower. Sauna loft has 2 normal-sized beds and 1 king-sized floor mattress. Guest access This is our second home that we use all-year around, but you have access to most spaces (except the garage/storage rooms, and one closet in the master bedroom for some personal belongings). So make yourselves at home but please respect the private nature of the villa. Other things to note Some table games and toys available on demand. The mobile phone coverage (4G) in the area is good. There’s no ethernet in the villa, but 4G WI-FI can be arranged on demand for foreign visitors. The air-conditioning is not the same as in hotels generally. The air is circulated and disposed electronically, but the cooling (or additional heating) of the house is done by a separate machine (air pump) on the kitchen wall. This means in practice that the bedrooms can get fairly warm during summer heat. There are several movable ventilators available. Please make sure that you agree with the cleaning policy (see separate section). We have a dog so if you are extremely allergic/ have asthma, this might not be suitable for you.
