Welcome to Ecton House, a country home available for exclusive hire on the edge of Northamptonshire. This beautifully restored Grade II* listed former rectory, dating back to 1640, offers a unique blend of historic charm and modern luxury set within two acres of picturesque grounds. Guests enjoy full use of the entire property and grounds. The space Ecton House is designed with large groups in mind — offering an exceptional sense of space, with multiple areas to gather, dine and unwind together, as well as quieter corners to step away and relax. At the heart of the house is the impressive dining room, where up to 22 guests can come together at a single table — ideal for long, celebratory meals and shared moments. The adjoining kitchen is generously sized and well-equipped, making it easy to cook, cater, or simply gather over coffee and drinks. The house offers several spacious living areas, including a grand main lounge perfect for the whole group to relax together, alongside a more intimate snug and additional breakout spaces. This thoughtful layout allows everyone to be together when it matters, while still having room to spread out and unwind. Bedrooms are individually designed, combining comfort with character. Each is individually styled with rich character, featuring plush Hypnos beds, spa-inspired en-suite bathrooms, Smart TVs with Wifi, and elegant furnishings that reflect the timeless beauty of this 17th-century former rectory. Outside, two acres of private gardens provide further space to relax, with a hot tub and outdoor dining/barbecue area offering a natural extension of the living space in warmer months. The serene grounds surrounding Ecton House provide the perfect setting for strolls, peaceful reflection, or morning coffee. We are also just a 5 minute walk away from a lovely local pub that does wonderful food. As well as this we have fantastic local walks starting from the house through the village and neighbouring fields as well as to the nearby lake (5k loop), which we can recommend also. Games Room & Snug Lounge: Discover cosy corners to relax, read, or engage in friendly games — ideal for groups or families looking to unwind together. Fully Equipped Kitchen Area: A charming country-style kitchen ideal for preparing light bites, drinks, or sharing a morning coffee before heading out. The Outdoor Patio & Barbecue Area: Enjoy alfresco dining on our beautiful patio, surrounded by nature and historic views. The house is very large and there are lots of spaces for the whole group to socialise together as well as smaller breakout areas! Other things to note Check-in & Check-out: Check-in is from 4 PM, and check-out is by 10 AM, as stated on our website. Parking: Convenient and secure parking available on site for all our guests. Historic Property: Ecton House is a Grade II* listed building with original features such as oak beams and Inglenook fireplaces, so please take care when moving around the property. Local Amenities: The nearby village pub and restaurant are within walking distance. Northampton town center, with its shops and amenities, is approximately 10 minutes by car. We are also very happy to recommend a private chef who we use regularly and is wonderful. He can design bespoke menus for your group ranging from 1-5 courses. If you would like to venture a little further afield there is easy access to historic destinations such as Oxford, Cambridge, Stratford-upon-Avon, and London — all within a 90-minute drive. Before 2023, Ecton House operated as a boutique B&B. Older reviews may mention breakfast or room-only stays. Today, the house is offered solely as an exclusive hire property, supported by the same long-standing hospitality experience. Non-smoking: The property is strictly non-smoking inside.
