Cosy Countryside Retreat, Derbyshire Peak District

Set on a former dairy farm in the lovely village of Parwich, Nethergreen Barn is the perfect base to explore the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. The barn has parts dating back to 1650 and combines character with comfort. Enjoy our wildflowers in summer and cosy log fires in winter. Dovedale, Ilam, the Tissington and Monsal trails, Chatsworth, Haddon, Alton Towers, and the towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Buxton are all nearby. There’s also an excellent pub a few minutes’ walk away. The space 📍We are on the edge of Parwich in a wonderful quiet location, but just a few minutes’ walk from the Sycamore Inn, which serves excellent food and doubles up as the village shop. You'll also get a warm welcome at our Royal British Legion pub. The historic town of Ashbourne, Gateway to Dovedale and the wider Peak District, is six miles to the south. 👣 You’ll be spoilt for footpaths and trails, with beautiful walks right from the doorstep and a wealth of attractions a short drive away. Then cosy up in front of the log burner in the evenings and enjoy the peace and quiet! 🛏️ Bedroom 1 has a king size bed and bedroom 2 has two singles. Both have drawers and clothes hanging space. ☕️ The kitchen/diner is light, spacious and equipped with everything you need for cooking, dishwasher, Nespresso machine and table that easily seats 4 and can be extended for a big spread. 🔥The cosy lounge has a large comfy sofa to burrow into, smart TV, books and log burner. A supply of wood for the burner is provided, with extra available to buy. 🥾 There’s a separate utility/boot room with laundry facilities and storage space for muddy gear. 🪴 There is garden space to the front of the barn, with a bench, table and chairs. 👶🏼 I can provide a high chair, rucksack carrier, blackout blind and travel cot with comfortable mattress. For safety reasons you'll need to bring your little one's own bedding. The accommodation is all on one level with a couple of steps separating the kitchen and lounge (there is a door between these rooms). 🅿️ There is plenty of space for two vehicles and storage space for bikes is available on request. 🔌 EV charging is not available at the barn. There are charging points in Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and all our local towns. 💻 The kitchen table can be extended to make extra space for remote working. 👋🏻 We live on site at the bottom of the drive with our children and chickens, so we're always on hand if you need any help or local tips. 🌲 The barn is decorated for Christmas with a real tree from the start of December. 🐾 We don’t accept pets. There are some lovely dog-friendly properties in and around Parwich – add a pet to your filters to search for them. ℹ️ Nethergreen Barn is close to: Beautiful market towns: Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock and Wirksworth. Stunning walks and trails: Dovedale, the Tissington and High Peak trail, Monsal trail and Manifold trail. Captivating stately homes: Chatsworth, Ilam Hall and Haddon Hall. Fun family attractions: Alton Towers, Gulliver’s Kingdom, Heights of Abraham, Thornbridge Gardens, Waterworld, and various Peak District caverns. Guest access There is plenty of garden space to the front of the barn. (Little ones may also enjoy paddling and pond-dipping in the stream on the common land just over the boundary.) The entrance and drive is shared with us so please be aware that there will be the odd car passing through. (There is a gate that you’re welcome to use to close the drive off.) Other things to note Regular visitors include bats, swallows, house martins, wagtails, swifts on the wing, song thrushes, greenfinches, goldfinches, wood pigeons, buzzards, tawny and barn owls.
