Description

Brekkegarden is situated in Gjerdsvika, along the beautiful coast line just north of West Cape. The house was built in 1893, and whilst fully restored, all the original elements of the building, including timber walls, are retained. The farms' natural beauty is outstanding, including rose gardens, a stream running through, and plentiful opportunities for walks and excursions. We warmly welcome all guests. The farm is particularly well suited for families and lovers of traditional architecture. The space Gjerdsvika is a village in the municipality of Sande, just north of Stadt (west cape). The village is small, but has a grocery shop, facilities for petrol filling and a new gym. The townships of Fosnavåg and Ulsteinvik are nearby, and the farm is an excellent starting point for trips to the bird island of Runde. Ålesund is 1h 30 min away and the Geiranger fjord 3h 30 min by car. Guest access Our guests have access to the entire farm area, including gardens with roses, berrybushes, fruit-trees and vegetables. Hillside sheep live om the farm. The kitchen is fully restored with a large gas cooker, and with an extra large kitchen table and a wood burner, the kitchen is the natural heart of the house and an ideal gathering place. Other things to note Brekkegarden is part of the Norwegian NaCuHeal foundation. NaCuHeal stands for Nature, Culture, Health, and the foundations' main aim is to promote health, happiness and quality of life through a holistic outlook on the connections between art, health and nature . All the farms within the association are deeply committed to public health work, through offering activities and events open to the public. Spring 2017 marks the start-up for the developing of an art trail going around the farmland. The farm hosts an annual residency for artists working in the environmental art field, and artists within any other field are also welcome to come and stay at any time. A truly harmonious and peaceful place, the farm offers an inspired starting point for focused work and reflection. Please contact host for further details on possibilities for work-away.
