Artist's home at Luftslottet
Artist's home at Luftslottet
Description
Welcome to Luftslottet, a place for unusual experiences! Luftslottet is a mill from 1854 with several buildings and the guest house is located in the heart of the old mill, above my artist's studio and under one of my two museums. There is a small kitchen, double bed and the possibility to set up extra beds. Bathroom and toilet are two flights of stairs down. Luftslottet has two museums filled with unusual and exciting objects, so prepare for an experience out of the ordinary. The space The guest house is a bright apartment with an older-style kitchen. Everything at my place is older and very charming - don't expect any high-tech features and solutions at my place. The room has windows facing two directions and the small river that drives the mill flows below. The guest house is located on the second floor of the mill, you get there via the stairs in my studio. The entire building is filled with unexpected solutions and unique items, you will be staying in the heart of this with one of the farm's two museums above you. Outside the residence is the red salon that you guests can use. Overall, Luftslottet is a place to explore and discover and you guests should feel warmly welcome to move around the courtyard. NOTE: 1. Airbnb has placed Luftslottet in the category "near lake", there is indeed a river and a small waterfall but Luftslottet is not near a lake. Vänern & Sjöarna around Eggby are recommended for swimming. 2. Bathrooms are two stairs down which can be good to know for those guests who have difficulty walking. The home has a double bed and the possibility to add extra beds for a fee. Extra duvet & pillows are in the closet, as well as vacuum cleaners, most things can be solved. The floor painting is made by the internationally active artist Daniel "Ekta" Götesson and is inspired by his visit here and the area's medieval church paintings. The museums on the farm are open for tours on Sundays during the summer, but the visits do not affect your stay. The room next to the guest house is an exhibition room for temporary exhibitions and is open at the same times as the museums. If there are other visits, I will of course notify the guests. The guest house is completely private and is not affected by the opening hours. Guest access Guests are welcome to discover and explore the farm. I'll show you around and tell you how everything works. Other things to note Luftslottet is the name of the historic mill farm with a few acres of land, a river and a number of buildings where I, the artist Jonas Liveröd, have lived and worked since 2016. I moved home to Sweden and fell in love with this Västgötland mill from 1854 and have devoted almost ten years and an incredible amount of time and love to restoring and developing the farm. Here is my home in the miller's house, in the mill is my studio, the guest house, the red salon and many other highly personally created rooms. Not least the heart of the building - the museum Den Liverödska Wunderkammaren where I show my colorful and lively collections. The farm is very unique and has what can be described as a pleasant bohemian atmosphere. I love to build according to my own ideas and the outdoor kitchen - which is inspired by Pompeii's ancient kitchen - was added last year. The year before, I built the Vanity Pavilion, which is another museum on the farm with special collections. On the property, there is also the guest house Lejonkulan, which is a converted military wagon from 1958 and under construction are two more guest houses. I have the big barn for sculptural work. OUTDOOR KITCHEN & TREE HOUSE You'll even have access to the summer kitchen located on the mill house's patio, where there are also opportunities to grill! Up in the farm's linden trees there is a tree house which you as guests are welcome to use. I would like the tree house and outdoor kitchen not to be used after midnight, but you can sit in other parts of the yard in a quiet conversation tone far into the summer night. You are welcome to use the yard at the mill and down to the river, the miller's house and lawn is my private residence. A LIVING ARTISTIC ENVIRONMENT It is important to know that the studio is an active artistic workplace with ongoing projects of different natures and is therefore not a cleaned and tidied place. I often work with various chores on the farm and with sculpture in the studio or barn, which means that sometimes it can be noisy from my machines. During the summer, I work a lot outdoors but around 7 pm, it becomes quiet. This is a living and authentic artistic environment you are welcome to. THE MUSEUMS: On the property, there are two museums and overnight guests have free admission to these. The museums are open on weekends in June and August and by appointment. Opening hours are between 12-4 p.m. and in case of different times, I will always notify my guests. BATHROOM & TOILET: NOTE: The bathroom is located two stairs down and is shared with other guests. There is a shower, two toilets and a mosaic floor I created myself. I also use the bathroom for the washing machine, but I adapt washing according to how the guests want to use the bathroom. To reach the bathroom, it is best to go out into the courtyard via my studio and into the green house. You can also go through my art storage which is located outside the bathroom. Opposite the bathroom is my carpentry workshop, which is also a place used for work and to which guests do not have access. Wi-Fi is available in the tree pavilion but currently does not reach across the yard from my home to the mill, so it is better to use your phone for this. But visiting Luftslottet is a good time to put the phone away and enjoy country life and explore the farm's many surprises. Duvets and pillows are available in the apartment. Own sheets and towels are included but can be purchased for SEK 95/person. The price is exclusive of Airbnb's service fee. The guest is responsible for cleaning the home before check-out. Cleaning can also be arranged for a fee of SEK 500. During the season, there are lots of wild berries around the farm, which guests can pick, crayfish are in the river but may not be fished. The river also has a shy beaver family. In the area there are plenty of moose, deer, pheasants and other animals. My farm is a very lively place for artists and visitors. PRACTICAL INFORMATION: There are bicycles to borrow on the farm, by bicycle it takes about 20 minutes to Götene center (6 km) and by car 10 minutes. In Götene, there are well-stocked grocery stores, pharmacies, liquor stores, some restaurants, etc. SURROUNDINGS: Just one kilometer from Luftslottet, Svenstorp Art Center has recently opened, which is well worth a visit. Kinnekulle with its magical nature, Vänern's beaches and cliffs and the areas around the municipality are very good for nature and cultural experiences. The area's historical heritage is exciting and rich, with Varnhem's monastery, rune stones, petroglyphs and churches from the 1100s-1200s, among many other things. Swimming opportunities are available in both large Vänern and small warm lakes, but you need a car to get to these. Within a radius of 30 km are the cities of Lidköping, Skara, Skövde and Mariestad. Welcome to Luftslottet!
