Cruck Cottage is a beautifully renovated 500 year old property, situated in the heart of Allonby and is the perfect base for exploring the Solway Coast and Lake District National Park. The cottage is rumoured to be the original house in the village and boasts many period features, including the original cruck frame in the bedroom, stained glass windows, an inglenook fireplace and bread oven. The space The cottage offers the perfect balance between old fashioned character and modern comforts. Downstairs consists of a kitchen, living room and stairs to the first floor. There is sandstone flooring throughout the ground floor and the living room is complete with a inglenook fireplace and a log burning stove. The living room also consists of a leather sofa, rocking chair, 32" smart television and dining table. To further this, the living room boasts plenty of charm and character with 500 year old wooden beams, stained glass windows and an original bread oven. The outer wall in the living room has also been left exposed, offering the perfect backdrop for a cosy night in front of the log burner after a long day exploring. The kitchen is equipped with all modern amenities, including a dishwasher and fridge freezer as well as all other modern appliances. The kitchen units are handmade and have been designed in keeping with the character and charm of the building. Period features are also abound in the kitchen with the room having a vaulted ceiling, wooden beams and a stone pointed wall. The winding staircase can also be found in the kitchen, turning round the exposed sandstone wall up to a mezzanine landing which overlooks the entrance to the property and kitchen. Upstairs consists of a double bedroom which has an A frame cruck in the centre, dating back to the property's roots in the 16th century. It is also complete with large wardrobe, bedside tables, dressing table and partially exposed sandstone wall. The shower room completes the upstairs layout and contains a shower, toilet, sink and mirror. Outside the property there is an enclosed outdoor space on the cobbles with a twin bench which offers the ideal area to sit on an evening or let a dog out. Please note we do allow for pets but only one small dog. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire property during their stay, including the enclosed outside space. There is free parking behind the cottage on the cobbles outside the living room window but this is classed as a common area an as such there is no guarantee of parking. Please allow for a car to access the property at the top of the cobbled square. There is also a free public car park across the main road which is less than a minutes walk. Guest access You will have full access to the property including the fenced off yard during your stay.
