The Shearing Shed

The Shearing Shed is situated on a fifth generation working farm in the East Sussex countryside known as Rye Foreign. Nestled in its own quiet valley with beautiful views out stretching to neighbouring Rye and across to Tillingham, it is the perfect bolt hole for peace and quiet amongst nature but with beaches, scenic walks and the historic town of Rye only a stones throw away. The space Historically a shelter for shearing sheep as far back as the 18th Century, The Shearing Shed has been newly restored to a very high standard, creating a romantic and cosy space for couples and families to enjoy. Our guests comfort is our top priority during your stay. The brand new natural fibre pillow top mattresses are of the highest quality. Made with the softest 100% organic cotton bed linens, which cover sumptuous down duvets and pillows. Our focus is to create 5* hotel quality and comfort bedrooms and bathrooms in a self catered unit. The beds can be made up to your groups needs, giving the flexibility for couples, friends or families. The twin room can be made up to a superking, please arrange this prior to check in. The two bathrooms have their own unique qualities. Both have that luxury holiday feeling, we provide the softest, 100% organic cotton bath towels and large cosy cotton dressing gowns. The blue bathroom is the ensuit to the twin bedroom, which boasts an invigorating shower and large bath. The pink bathroom is an ensuit to the super king room and has a fabulous shower. You can live life slowly in this slice of the countryside so why not light a few candles, pour a bubble bath and take a moment to gaze at the stars in the open dark skies we are treated to in this corner of the world. The open plan living area boasts uninterrupted views of pasture and woodland across the valley. During the summer you can throw open the doors and enjoy the weather and views from the kitchen or sofa. In the winter enjoy the out stretching vista, staying cosy in front of the wood burning stove. From the luxury of the fully equipped kitchen you can step out into the views with your own outside area to enjoy alfresco dining. The resident and very friendly Romney ewes, guinea fowl and occasionally Daisy and Dandelion our Dexter cattle may even pop by to say hello whilst you’re enjoying breakfast in the morning sun! The Shearing Shed at Lea Farm is located in Rye Foreign, has its own bus stop at the top of the farm drive (to take you to and from Rye) and is also at the start of a public foot path that leads you to the famous historic town of Rye (around a 45 minute walk across fields). Conveniently situated the Shearing Shed is surrounded by beautiful country walks amongst grazing sheep, orchards, woodland, vineyards, and hop gardens, with also the luxury of sandy beach walks in Camber or coastal cliff walks from Fairlight to Hastings. There really is something for everyone. And finally a wide range attractions, such as fantastic pubs, restaurants, vineyards, English Heritage sites and family fun are all within easy reach from this perfect little bolt hole. The garden is fully secure with stock fencing so fury friends are welcome for a £50 fee. You will be staying on a working livestock farm so please make sure your dogs are on a lead at all times outside of your cottage. Thank you! Things to note: We do not provide charcoal for the bbq. We can provide a large net of logs for the wood burner at £10 a bag. The travel cot we provide comes as is.
