Located in the small village of Biddulph Moor, Holly Cottage is perfectly suited for a cosy staycation in front of the fire, a base camp for Peak District Adventures or anything in-between! Built in the mid to late 1800's Holly Cottage is full of character. Over its lifetime the stone quarried gritstone building has been extended and modernised, but it retains its cottage charm. If you're looking for a cosy countryside retreat that gives access to the great outdoors, then look no further. The space Holly Cottage is a small but functional space. The Cottage has a Master Bedroom with a king-sized bed and on suite, with a shower. There is a separate spare bedroom with a double sofa bed. For booking of 2 or less guests this will room be set up as a reading room unless otherwise requested. Upstairs there is also a separate dressing room. Downstairs the cottage has a living room/dining room with a fireplace and a dining table cable of seating 6. There is a fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar and a downstairs bathroom with bath and over bath shower. Under the stairs there is a utility room with shoe storage and tumble drier (there is an inbuilt washing machine in the kitchen). The Cottage has its own private drive that can comfortably fit a single car and at a push two. There is free on street parking for guests who bring two larger cars. At Holly Cottage you have your own private courtyard/garden that is not overlooked so you can enjoy the sunshine throughout the day and even BBQ. The local village is equipped with a basic store for essentials and two pubs, The Rose & Crown next door, and the Foxhounds at the other end of the village. Both are excellent pubs for a quiet evening drink by the fire and both are dog friendly! The village is also close to Biddulph and Congleton towns both of which have numerous supermarkets for bigger shops and placed to go out for food and drinks. The cottage is just 6km (as the crow flies) from the edge of the Peak District National Park giving great access to the trail running, walking, scrambling, climbing, mountain & road biking as well as cute villages and great countryside pubs (see my guidebooks). Guest access The property is rented as a whole house. You will have full access to the whole of the house during your stay excluding the loft and shed around the back of the property. If you are planning to bring bikes or feel like you might need to store larger items during your stay please let us know and we may be able to provide access to the shed (space dependant!) Other things to note The cottage is situated very close to the local pub (The Rose & Crown). We have never had issues with noise as the pub is a “quiet local” and keeps respectful hours. It is still worth being aware of as there is always the potential for some noise in the evenings or at weekends which is unfortualy out of our control. There is no mains gas in Biddulph Moor. As a result the boiler at the property is run off 47kg LPG gas bottles. We always keep 2 full spare bottles at the cottage on standby. During your stay (especially longer stays) you may need to switch between the active gas bottles and the spare bottles should the 2 being used to supply the boiler run out. This is very easy to do (all 4 bottles are connected on delivery it's just a case of opening the spare bottles and flicking a switch), however, if you don't feel comfortable doing this, we will be happy to come to the property to do this for you. We provide enough wood for the fire to last one to two days (on average). Finally, please be aware we do not have a TV in the living room. We do have numerous books and a good supply of board games for evenings in. We also have a 4k projector set up should you wish to sit back and enjoy a film on the big screen!
