For lakeside adventures, head 8 miles to Pooley Bridge, a charming village on the River Eamont at the head of Ullswater. The space It’s a scenic spot lined with elegant greystone houses and teashops, and the starting point for a popular boat trip: sail to Howtown, hike to Glenridding, and return by boat – one of Wordsworth’s favourite routes. You’ll also be well placed for day trips to Carlisle and Keswick (both 17.5 miles). Upon arrival, step through the conservatory porch into the entrance hall, where the cosy lounge awaits to your right, complete with a Smart TV in one corner and an electric wood burner to keep you all warm.
