Woodland Eco-Retreat; Gloria

Set within 18 acres of private woodland, Gloria is our handcrafted, off-grid shepherd’s hut nestled deep in Devon’s Teign Valley. This peaceful eco-retreat offers a chance to disconnect from busy life and slow down. Wander wild trails, listen to birdsong, and fully reconnect with nature. As evening falls, light the fire pit beneath the stars and soak in the magic of the woods. The space Lovingly designed and hand-built by us, Gloria is a unique, solar-powered shepherd’s hut with a cosy feel and a low environmental footprint. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable double and single bed, a wood burner to keep you cosy, and a simple indoor kitchenette with a gas hob and kettle. We’ve stocked the space with tea and coffee for your stay, and you’re welcome to use the BBQ and fire pit just outside. Your private compost toilet is just a few steps from the hut, tucked into the trees. We now have an outdoor shower for all guests in the woods as a shared space. Offering hot water in our open topped structure, you can shower under the trees with full privacy. We provide towels and eco body wash, and ask that any other products used are also eco friendly to best support the land. Gloria runs entirely on solar power, with indoor lighting, torches and USB charging ports provided. Please note. Gloria is a wooden structure; absolutely no candles, incense sticks or naked flames are allowed inside. Please take the upmost care with the wood burner. Clean drinking water is supplied; outside, you’ll have your own private clearing with a fire pit, hammock bbq and room to simply breathe. Guests are free to explore the surrounding woods and wildlife-rich landscape, where you might glimpse deer, foxes, owls, or even badgers at dusk. Please Note: While your accommodation in Gloria is entirely private and exclusively yours during your stay, the surrounding woodland and grounds are shared spaces. Other guests and residents may also be enjoying the area, so you may see or hear others during your visit. We’ve designed the site to offer a peaceful and respectful atmosphere for everyone, and we ask all guests to be mindful of others while exploring the shared outdoor spaces. Please be aware that the hut is a short walk from the parking area along a signposted woodland trail - so bring sturdy footwear, especially in wetter weather. We provide a wheelbarrow to aid you carrying your luggage. This is a place best enjoyed with muddy boots and a spirit for adventure. We provide one nights fire wood in the Shepherds Hut free of charge. If you wish to purchase firewood for the outdoor fire, please let us know. Guest access Guests are welcome to explore the woodland trails, and enjoy the beauty of the woods. While there’s plenty of space to roam, some areas are private, including the main residence and other structures on site. Please respect all signage and boundaries to ensure a peaceful experience for everyone. We ask guests not to enter neighbouring farmland or restricted zones, and to leave no trace as you enjoy this special slice of nature. We ask that all music and noise is concluded at 10pm to ensure the most comfort and peace for those also enjoying their stay. Other things to note Please note, there is no mains charging available in Gloria. She is run by solar power, and therefore only offers USB charging. Please bring sensible shoes and weather appropriate clothing - This is a wild woodland experience and you should be prepared. There are animals on site, you must not feed them. Please note: In the event that a storm is forecast in the area, we may need to cancel your booking as a precaution. If this occurs, we will notify you as soon as possible and work with you to reschedule your visit or arrange a full refund.
