A Rustic Woodland Yurt set in a 7-acre smallholding situated down a private road in the small village of Llanfwrog. The smallholding is situated in the coastal zone of Anglesey’s AONB. The yurt is in a very secluded off grid location surrounded by native woodland trees providing a very peaceful and quiet setting. At present the yurt is the only accommodation offered at our smallholding so visitors will enjoy an incredibly unique experience of connecting with the land and nature by themselves. The yurt is in a very secluded location surrounded by native woodland trees providing a very peaceful and quiet setting. At present the yurt is the only accommodation offered at our smallholding so visitors will enjoy an incredibly unique experience of connecting with the land and nature. Inside the yurt there is a double bed with two bed side tables with storage, a good-sized sofa and two comfortable rocking chairs. There is a log burner with seasoned logs from our woodland (the first basket of logs is free, and £5 a bag thereafter) a table and two chairs and small kitchen area with a gas stove including of 2 burners and a grill. Also a blanket box with extra blankets and hot water bottles. Cutlery and crockery are provided along with cooking pots and cooking utensils. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk and a fresh jug of herbs for a delightful herbal tea. There is also a small herb patch next to the yurt for adding to your dishes (seasonal dependant) Bath towels provided. Water can be found on the field from a hose pipe or from the static caravan. Internet signal poor but if needed you can walk to to our cottage and get signal from there. Outside the yurt is a fit pit (tripod cooking rack available to hire at additional cost) with a seating area set in a cozy circle of Alder trees. There is also two hammocks, and access to our woodland walks. NB: Please note we do not offer luxury glamping, we do not have a hot tub and our towels are not fluffy, signal is patchy but can be accessed near the cottage. However, what we do offer is a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature in a very peaceful environment (apart from neighbouring farm noises) five-minute drive from a beautiful quiet beach with a view of Holy Head Mountain and access to Anglesey Coastal Path. Walk to the top of our hill and you will see our amazing dark skies and if you are lucky catch the Aurora borealis and on a bright day, the magnificent Snowdonia Mountain range. Our largest woodland (known as The Enchanted Woodland is very wild and home to foxes, hedgehogs, lizards and many birds such as willow warblers, wood snipes and sparrow harks. At the boundary of our land is the River Dronwy, here you may see water birds including wild geese and ducks, moorhens and the very colourful Kingfisher. Facilities: one compost toilet with hand washing facilities and a basic shower and toilet housed in our static caravan. We ask for a donation to cover gas costs when using the shower. There is also with tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge to store food and an electric socket to charge your phone about 1 min walk from the yurt. NB: We share our home with four cats, 4 chickens and 2 guinea fowl Very well behaved dogs allowed but they must be kept on a lead at all times and dog waste picked up straight away. Private Parking available in our lovely Edible Carpark with wheelbarrow to transport your luggage. Things to bring: strong walking boots, waterproof coats and slippers or crocs for the cottage. Corn Helyg is a seven acre, organically managed small holding surrounded by 400-year-old hedgerows that are full of wildlife; they are rich in food, natural medicine, magic, and mystery! Since moving here in 2010 we have planted over 5000 trees creating native woodlands, Welsh fruit orchards, vegetable patches, an edible car park, a large pond (complete with “Branwen” the standing stone), edible and medicinal food forests and wild spaces which attract a diversity of wildlife. The meandering pathways that run through the land have a whimsical feel, connecting us the magical spirit of the land. Local beach Porth Penial is a 1½ mile walk from Corn Helyg and takes about ½ to walk or 5 minutes in the car. Parking is limited but it’s an incredibly quiet beach so rarely gets busy. Wild swimming: there are various beaches around Anglesey, that are perfect for wild swimming. For a local everyday swimming there is The Vista Swimmers in Valley that post times everyday, please ask for details. This is a beautiful swimming place called Monks Pool with lovely views of Holyhead Mountain. Distance 4 miles. Restaurants, pubs, and shops: there is a local Premier shop (and post office) in Llanfachraeth that will provide with everything you need 28 min walk (5-minute drive) Opposite the shop is the Gwesty Holland Hotel/pub where you can get a drink and something to eat, sometimes they have a takeaway wood fired pizza outside in the carpark. Catch 22 Brasserie in Valley is a great local and award winning restaurant situated on London Road. It’s a very popular place so call ahead if you want a table! The Sea Shanty café and restaurant in Trearddur Bay is about a 16 min drive. A large restaurant with an outdoor bar and wonderful ice cream parlour. Situated right on the beach with large parking. The Crown in Bodedern is a newly opened gastro pub which is getting great reviews. It serves pub classics and curries and great pint. 8-minute drive or 20-minute bike ride. Festivals close by: Tonnau Tropical garden party 11th to 13th July situated in the beautiful grounds of Carreglwyd Estate in Llanfaethlu 3.8 miles. It is our dream to share our beautiful smallholding with people, we run many workshops and events from our place so we are used to being around people so anything you need to make your stay more magical please ask and we will try to accommodate you! There is only phone signal onsite, you can connect to your own wifi. We do not offer additional wifi connection.
