Peaceful Dartmoor cottage with stunning views
Peaceful Dartmoor cottage with stunning views
Description
Escape to a peaceful hideaway on Dartmoor with sweeping views, wood burner, and optional access to a beautifully preserved 1830 pipe organ in the barn next door. Next to our ancient granite longhouse, within the National Park, the Annexe enjoys beautiful views down our fields towards Widecombe-in-the-Moor. Recently renovated to a high standard, comfortable and stylish, it is remarkably quiet. The property is not overlooked and we share the lovely walk down our fields to the village. The space Northway Annexe is fully equipped for a comfortable stay, with a well-appointed kitchen and a cosy sitting room featuring a modern woodburner (firewood provided). The bedroom, fitted with a king sized bed has a duvet and 4 pillows with 400 thread count bedding. The bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom and separate from the living space, with a newly fitted shower and electric heating throughout, in addition to the woodburner. Outside, there is a small seating area with table and chairs, ideal for eating outdoors and enjoying the views. Guest access You are welcome to explore the fields and wetland area down below the annexe, which includes an island area by the stream ideal for picnics. The stream at the bottom of the field is deep enough for a very cold dip. We mow a path through the field to the bridge at the bottom over the stream in front of the annexe. This provides walking access almost to the village (without using the main road). Other things to note Northway Annexe is a rural, older building and may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. Access from the private parking area is via a short walk across uneven, grassy ground (there is no paved path). In the annexe there are two steps up into the bedroom and doorways are not wheelchair accessible. The annexe overlooks the village church; bells are rung on Wednesday evenings between 8–10pm and every Sunday between 10-10:30am. We live nearby and have a friendly cocker spaniel. Dogs are welcome, and can roam our fields. However, gates may be left open so supervision is advised. We also have several ponds and a stream running through the fields, just so you are aware. There are all sorts of local activities available. One less obvious one is the renowned Ashburton Cookery School, 5 miles away. They run courses for all levels of varying duration.
