Syms Cottage, Cutcombe
Syms Cottage, Cutcombe
Description
Syms Cottage is a characterful 1831 cottage sleeping 4 across two double bedrooms, with one bathroom. Full of charm throughout, the front door opens into a small entrance porch handy for boots and coats. The cottage-style kitchen has a small dining table for four, with a rear pantry housing the fridge, toaster and microwave. The space The sitting room is the heart of the home, featuring a large inglenook fireplace with exposed stone, bread oven and wood-burning stove, plus a John Lewis sofa that converts to a bed for guests preferring to sleep downstairs or with restricted mobility (additional linen available on request). The ground-floor bathroom, accessed via a lobby off the sitting room, has a bath with electric shower over, hand basin, toilet, electric wall heater and heated towel rail. Steep wooden stairs lead to the two double bedrooms upstairs, with the master enjoying fabulous far-reaching views across the valley and surrounding farmland. Please note some doorways, including the front door, are of limited height, and the old wooden floors are uneven in places. A 4K television with WiFi and Freesat, plus BT Infinity broadband, are provided, and a hairdryer and sensor night light feature in the master bedroom. Bed linen, duvets and one set of towels per person are included. Electricity and heating are included in the price, with electric heaters throughout and a wood-burning stove offering extra warmth; starter logs and kindling are provided. Tea, coffee, milk and a treat or two await on arrival. Outside, a small front courtyard catches the afternoon sun and has a bistro table, two chairs and a wooden bench. There is no garden to the rear, but the sitting room window offers wonderful uninterrupted views over the valley. A separate outdoor space across the lane, still a work in progress, offers a bench and seating area for relaxing when the weather allows, along with private off-road parking for up to two cars, a short walk from the front door.
