This house was built by Matteo’s grandfather and contains 3 family apartments. Matteos is the ground floor. Situated in Gignese and surrounded by green forest and mountains, the air is fresh & clean. Beside 7 lakes: Lago di Maggiore with its beautiful Borromean Islands, easily access by ferries from Stesa; the nearest town 15 min drive. A spacious apartment suitable for 4 people, situated on the ground floor of a 3 floor family building. Lovely gardens and grounds to enjoy and dine alfresco. The space This house was built by Matteo’s grandfather and consequently split into apartments for Matteo and his cousins. It’s on the edge of Gignese with the green forest and mountains behind the property. The steps up to the flat are an easy climb and wide. The air is so fresh and clean as all you see is green forests and mountains, and you have within easy access 7 lakes depending on what you wish to do. The elegant Lago di Maggiore with its beautiful Borromean Islands easily accessible by ferries from Stesa which is the nearest town to the apartment, about 15 min drive. Best to book ahead during the weekend or holiday season. The apartment is perfect for families, couples, friends, everyone is welcome to this sancturary. This is a friendly family home, decorated in timeless Italian style, with fabulous antiques and art collection, something new to see everywhere you turn and very very interesting pieces. Pls ask The sitting area has two double patio doors which opens onto the west side and you can just see the green of the forest. The garden is green and perfect for kids to play around in and there is a badminton net at the back and a washing line. Upon entering the front door of the apartment you arrive into the open plan kitchen and sitting room. The sitting room is a wide open space with wonderful light, here you will find floor to ceiling French doors opening onto the garden and comfortable seating and dining table with chairs. The open plan space provides the perfect sitting area and a big kitchen bar/table is so perfect to sit at, eat and drink whilst someone is cooking. The kitchen has a serving hatch and high stools to sip coffee and natter whilst cooking. The kitchen is well equipped with all appliances, glassware, cookware, cutlery and dining essentials. The bedrooms are very cool and comfortable with windows opening to the rear and shutters and curtaining so perfect for a good nights sleep. The main bedroom has a king bed. The second bedroom has a single bed with a pull out single plus there is a very comfortable additional single fold up bed. Lots of storage space and views over the garden. The bedrooms large window provides a lovely view across the garden. The bathroom has a power shower, sink and wc plus bidet. The window open to the rear, so g air flow, plus a washing machine. Upon entering the front door of the apartment you arrive into the open plan kitchen and sitting room. The sitting room is a wide open space with wonderful light, here you will find floor to ceiling French doors opening onto the garden and comfortable seating and dining table with chairs. The apartment is 3 minute walk from a well stocked supermarket, 3 nice restaurants, tennis court is 1 km, golf club is 1km, surrounded by an array of walks and treks for biking, 8 km from lago maggiore, 15km to lago D'Orta, altitude 750: never to hot never too cold Gignese is a delight and is literally a 5 minute walk from the apartment to PAM the supermarket, plus a couple of bars/tabac and two very good Pizza restaurants which also serves Piedmontese cuisine. The other is near the tennis court. The village has a wonderful Alpine feel to it too with Pinocchio sitting on a bench, all very pretty in summer with the petunias and geraniums. The local “panetteria” bakery is the best in the area.The apartment is 3 minute walk from a well stocked supermarket, 3 nice restaurants, tennis court is 1 km, golf club is 1km, surrounded by an array of walks and treks for biking, 8 km from lago maggiore, 15km to lago D'Orta, altitude 750: never to hot never too cold HIKING For those who love trekking, Mount Mottarone is directly behind the apartment and you can find the well marked trails from the end of the road. It offers a myriad of paths which allow you to cross centuries-old woods of firs, pines, larches, beeches and chestnut trees, to discover old pastures with grazing animals and grass scented meadows and flowers. BIKING Cycling here is a must and perfect to explore Lake Orta by bicycle. The bikes available are electric bikes, even the less trained riders will be able to ride along the paths without effort. You can rent bikes and ride by yourself or ask for sightseeing excursions and organised tours . The rental is open from April to September, from 9am to 6pm. E-BIKE LAGO D’ORTA Via Domodossola, 9 28016, Orta San Giulio – Novara ADVENTURE PARK Toce Park is a theme park, for adults and children, it is located inside the nature reserve of Toce. It extends between Baveno, Gravellona Toce and Verbania districts. Here you can spend a different day between nature and adventure!!! Electric quads For children aged 4 to 11 a wonderful opportunity for trying safely in the driving of mini electric quads ! Pony riding For the little ones, the chance to get closer to riding Carriage ride LAKE MAGGIORE The 11 islands, of which 8 are in Piedmont and 1 in Lombardy, is the fascinating archipelago of the Borromean Islands including Isola Madre, Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori is set between Stresa and Verbania, within a 20 min drive from Gignese. The three rocks called Castles of Cannero with the remains of the Fortezza Vitaliana sought by Count Ludovico Borromeo are also interesting. Do not miss the island of La Malghera and the isle of Partegora and the beautiful isle of St. Giovanni in front of Verbania, where Arturo Toscanini lived for a long time in the seventeenth century Palazzo Borromeo. The lake waters are ideal for sailing, canoeing, yachting, water skiing and scuba diving activities, with shore facilities offering various courses for athletes of all levels, particularly on the Lombardy side of the lake. PARCO PALLAVICINO Villa Pallavicino was founded as a private residence in 1855. This was followed in 1862 by the acquisition by the noble Genoese Pallavicino family, who enlarged the estate, built carriage roads, adorned the park with statues and transformed the simple residence into the splendid 19th-century villa in neoclassical style that still stands on the hill today. The Borromeo management began in 2017, the year in which a series of restoration and improvement works were started on the animal areas as well as the tree-lined avenues. The great wonder of this park are the trees: the centuries-old chestnuts and giant lyriodendrons, among the oldest in Italy, the red beeches, maples, larches, ginkgo bilobas, sequoias and magnolias. There are also many nature reserves such as the National Park of Val Grande and the Natural Park of the Ticino Valley, a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
