Family bedroom (Pentland room) in modern farmhouse

Pentland room is a gorgous, spacious 4 bed room within our modern eco house. Come and enjoy the quiet Scottish countryside on our 45 acre working farm that is perfectly situated south of the Edinburgh city bypass. The space Our eco home was completed by us in 2025 and fully run off renewable sources (solar and ground source heat). We designed the house to be light and the rooms to be spacious, with all bedrooms having ensuite bathrooms. In the Pentland you have a luxiourous wall-in shower and views of the Pentland hills. With Scottish weather permitting you will also have a gorgous view of the sunset over the hills. The kitchen space is shared between the two rooms (Pentland and Mallard) and us, and has plenty of space and all the necessary facilities. Available every morning is a continental-style breakfast, including homemade jams, our own honey and eggs from our own chickens just outside the window. We are always looking for little helpers to help collect the eggs. Guest access Guests have access to all the public rooms downstairs, living room, kitchen and a downstairs bathroom. You will also find our utility room which houses our three working collies and the washing machine. We have a number of mountain bikes available for rent and we are situated right next to a lovely cycle path on the old railway which will take you over a viaduct. You can enjoy meeting our many animals, such as our sheep, goats, chickens and small herd of Jersey cows. Please be considerate of our neighbors when enjoying the local area. During your stay One of us is available at all times. Our personal contact details are available upon booking. Other things to note FAQ: How do we get to you? 1. Car Having your own transportation is by far the easiest method of reaching our farm as we are rural. There are two roads which access our farm and both are single track and have potholes so please be considerate of other drivers using the road and take your time. One road comes in from the East and is on google maps, the other comes in from the West and does not appear on maps. Please message ahead of time for the Whatthreewords of the second route if you would like to have both options available. 2. Public transport We have had guests access our farm solely on public transport but we would like to caution that this is more difficult and takes more time. The local bus station is in Penicuik and our local train station is Eskbank. There are local taxis services which can then take you the rest of the way to the farm but some guests have had difficulty ordering taxis to pick them up from our rural location. The walk from Penicuik to our farm is around 30 mins on farm roads. How do I go into Edinburgh? We do not recommend taking the car with you into Edinburgh as finding parking is expensive and difficult. The bus can be accessed from either Penicuik or Straiton Park and Ride where you can grab the 47 (Lothian bus) or 62 (borders bus) for a 30/40 min ride into the centre of town. The closest train station is Eskbank and the train comes every half an hour before 6:30pm (after which it comes every hour) and that is a 20min communte to Edinburgh waverly. Both of these options have free parking. We cannot accept bookings of more than 2 adults unless all are members of the same immediate family eg: parents and adult children, or parents and grandparents etc. Looking for local food and attractions? Penicuik is an easy option for takeaways and supermarkets, with some lovely pubs and cafes. Roslin has Rosslyn chapel which is a must if you are a fan of the Da Vinci code and some beautiful forest walks. There is also the Original Rosslyn Inn which does good pub food and is dog friendly.
